There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Spyder 'RT' copy

I know many of you are Marcel fans, and his new Mantis fairing actually looks pretty good - but now he is really doing something I find disturbing (and unethical).

He is selling what he now calls a Spyder RT kit !

http://www.f1windshields.com/Can_Am_Spyderx.htm

Scroll down.

So on one hand he complains (in writing on his site) that BRP stole his windshield ideas - yet on the other it's okay for him to use the name of their soon to be released touring Spyder---- the Spyder RT.

Trying to steal some BRP spotlight - just doesn't seem right to me. He could have named it anything else - but chose to bite the hand that has fed him (without BRP he wouldn't be selling his stuff!).

Sorry for the vent or if this is inappropriate I'll remove the post - but this just irks me!

I agree with you.

Anyway it is not my style. Looks like the mock-up photoshop that Lamont posted a couple of days ago. Plus, he could certainly use spell check.

It is amazing how much opinion differs about this guy: for some he is a god and other the devil!!!

I usually sit back and watch  but this is wrong.

No one is supposed to know anything about a RT :spyder2:! So did he steal the name ? I don't know .:dontknow: I don't know much about the F1 as i have a CalSci .I certainly like his saddle bag and trunk set-up and if he can bring it to market at $3,500 with the Mantis that is one sweet deal as i have the Corbin hard saddle bags with the trunk box at $2,700 and no fairring. Don't care much for either of the fairrings. Just my opinion.

Pretty obvious he knew about the Spyder RT. I doubt his bags will be anywhere near the quality of the Corbin (which he owns a set of BTW).

Who swiped what? I ride a BMW R1100RT. That was not the first of their "RT" line, either, and they still make them. Initials can mean anything...Road Touring, Ratty Triumph, Rotten Tires... Lighten up folks.

I'm sure if there is a trademark issue BRP will deal with it.nojoke

I'm on the fence about the fairing.:dontknow: He did a really nice job from what I could see, it has a Robo Cop look to it. I don't like the windshield on it, it's too tall and too straight up and down for me but I'm sure there will be those who love it just the way it is. :doorag:

I put on a set of smoked lexan headlight covers (similar to the "stealth kit") which were made by Pioneer Motorsports in NY.

I just wonder what Marcel's covering of those fog light holes with plastic

(when you don't have fog lights) will do to venting and summer engine temps...:dontknow:

I was thinking the same thing - RoboCop. It's not really my thing - but I can see many people making that look work well for them - it's pretty sharp in that respect.

I just thought it was a bit of a slap at BRP - probably because he really thinks they stole his windshield designs.

BTW - his lift is priced at $850 + S&H !

I'm not saying it's a bad product or anything - just that the naming is 'sneaky' in my opinion. Kind of like if someone else came out with an adjustable shield and called it the CHAP. I personally hate that kind of advertising ploy.

i don't like what he is doing but i like them bags:p
i am assuming he is trying get back at them for "stealing" his designs.
it really is making him look bad thou.

anybody know how much are the bags by themselves and when they will be available?

That is a photoshopped pic of Goldwing bags and trunk... I do believe.

Well I don't care what he calls the thing, I like the idea of having the trunk box with the armrests like the Goldwing. If it's good quality, priced right, and fits right with my current Corbin set-up (seats & bags) he'll have a customer here. I was holding out for the rumored trunk from Corbin that was supposed to be like this but who knows what's going on with that or if it'll even be produced.

Ah, just what I'm looking for...a little positive, a little negative...it's all good...

Fire...who cares what the name is...the 'CHAP' for a windshield would be appropriate, provided you're in England!

I have not dealt with this Marcel before, but if he has customer service that even comes close to Evan (NMN), then he's legit. in my eyes.

More power to the guy for putting out unique and cool looking products. If BRP comes out with this type of look and Marcel's is first, I'm not sure there will be much that BRP can do about it. He's not copying anything if it is still a secret...he's entitled to do what he wants.

Bottom line: Get what you like...if we wait for BRP to come out with it, we might have to wait a decade or two....:gaah:

One of Marcel's biggest problems is that one customer gets top notch customer service :firstplace: and the next customer gets blown off :cus:. Or one day he's great and the next day you can't get ahold of him or get him to do what he promised for weeks. Thats why there is a love him / hate him attitude amongst his customers. I have had great dealings with him a number of times  but friends of mine have gotten the opposite :( and I trust their report.
