There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Shop told me that the hot foot mods would kill my master cylinder

David,
You had a brake code before you rolled into my shop if I'm not mistaken. Tell them that!

Mark is correct, the shield protects the master cylinder up to 2000 degrees.

Don't remove the lower panels with the air management system as the panel funnels the hot air to the inside and past the heat shield. The RT is different in managing the air.

The guy that told you it would overheat the master cylinder is very mis-informed!

miles

how many miles on yours? I just got all the heat management stuff from Harvey and it's a LOT better. I'm gonna get a laser heat gauge from Harbor Freight just to see how hot mine gets. Master Cyl and calipers? past experience from years of working on all kinds of vehicles is master cylinders fail when not other parts replaced and m cyl not bled right. but with low miles that doesn't make sense. These use dot 4 correct? anyone used dot 5 yet? I looked at my fluid adn it sure looked dark though now I'm wondering. it's been over 100 for the last 2 weeks here in Austin, and can't help but wonder what else I can do. thinking I wanna wrap what exhaust I can reach change my brake fluid out make sure I keep my fire extinguisher pistol handy. :dontknow:

David,
Next time you talk to that service guy tell him that the code was there before the heat shield was put on.

The heat shield is designed to protect the master cylinder and your foot. It adds 2000 degree protection to the master cylinder that was not protected from the exhaust right next to it.

I have had a real low pedal when my Y gasket blew on a trip. Brake fluid doesn't like that extreme heat from leaky Y gaskets.

Didn't you just replace them not long ago?

Harvey

Sorry if this looks like a double post. I'm on the road and didn't think the other one posted from my iPhone.
Just saw the other one after writing this one.

You are correct, it was throwing codes long before the heat shield mods. The previous owner had the Y pipe gaskets replaced less than 6 months ago.

So the way this tech was talking, he was pointing to the plate by my foot and claiming it was trapping hot air in by the Master Cylinder. But you are correct that the other mods keep the hot air out of the compartment. Sorry if my ignorance cast doubt on your products, I'd definitely trust you over these guys. I just wish you weren't 7 hours away :).

So it sounds like I need to check my Y gaskets and maybe spend the money on the Honda ones? Looks like the slip joints were replaced 2 years earlier.

It's the powerlessness that annoys me... need to get smarter on this thing so I am not at the mercy of ignorant dealers that have BUDS.
