• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. SE5 Not revving after changing gear

terminal

New member
Hi Guys,

I have a Roadster SE5, 12000km on the clock. Since I got it, it has always revved when i change down gear (all the gears except changing from 2nd to 1st). Now it stood for a week, and it doesn't rev anymore. I was wondering why its stopped? I also miss the sound! Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Andrew

You posted this some time ago and no one responded...

Not sure what you are talking about with regard to "revving"...

Anytime you downshift to a lower gear the engine will have to speed-up to a higher RPM to maintain the same speed. This would be common. Reducing the revving can be done (somewhat) by braking as you downshift -- but not required -- but recommended to help avoid adding extra strain to the transmission, clutch and etc.

So... again... not sure what you are talking about; nor would I know why all of a sudden it is not "revving" on downshift. Maybe more explanation is needed.

That's not something that we discuss in public... :opps: :roflblack:

Yep. or something connected to it

Sounds like your "blipper" is malfunctioning:

:agree:
My 2008 SE5 has almost never blipped the the throttle when downchanging. The dealer tried replacing the blipper on two occasions, but still the problem persisted. It could be a poor connection at the TCM or the TCM could be faulty. There could be a problem with the linkage at the throttle.

When you turn on the ignition, listen for a click-click from the blipper being tested. If you don't hear it, it is definitely faulty. If you do hear it, you have joined my club. :banghead:

Pogo.

Mine will do this but only if I wait too long to down shift. Maybe it's your technique?
