Riding without frunk insert in - is this okay

It was a warm day in the northeast so I removed the battery tender and went for a ride. I went out without putting the frunk insert in, is this okay? It would seem okay but I wanted to run it by people on the forum who know better than me.

I would think...

As long as you are not going far and the weathwer is dry I don't see a problem. Actually if the seals are good on the frunk lid it all good...

I'm not sure what you mean by the 'insert'. Why would you remove the liner, if that's what you mean?

The battery is exposed to items in the Frunk. A jacket zipper could arc between terminals. In dry weather, no worries.

On my F3 I drilled a keyhole in the upper liner and the Tender connector and heated glove inserts connector lay inside the trunk liner with Caps on connectors if not connected.

Yup, do what Sarge did. My dealer installs a Battery Tender connector in frunk area, I don’t have to remove anything. Just pop the frunk and connect the tender. Very easy. Good luck.

Jim, Since your profile indicates you have an F3, Im assuming the insert you refer to is the plastic bucket that comprises the frunk. Shouldn't be an issue this time of year, but in summer temps there might not be as much air directed around and sideways through the radiators. Other than that, I dont see a problem-- To avoid having to connect the battery tender to the battery each time, we just installed the fused lead on our 16 F3T and led it out the left side so we can attach and detach the tender/maintainer easily.

Just our setup - whatever works for you.

He's no longer on line to answer follow-up questions (or receive responses). Don't ya just hate when that happens?

Sounds like someone left the battery access door off of yours. Mine certainly is NOT.
(Sorry. Different model. That might be normal for some.)

IF....you think you need to remove the liner to connect your tender, you need to re-think your connection method.

If you take a peek at post #1: it will all become clear... :D

Bob......buddy......
This is yet another reminder that your posts would be more effective if you would QUOTE the person that you are replying TO.

ANd.....if a person is replying to the thread, why would you assume that he has NOT read the post that started it ??

Removing the insert should have very little effect on the air flow as there is cover under the insert that directs the air to the radiators, and the only opening to the elements is in the rear.

Second picture is with the insert in.

First picture is with it removed.

If you ryde without the liner, the frunk lid will be loose because the top edge making contact with the gasket is what keeps it from moving, personally I would not want to ryde with my lid that loose. I connect my battery tender to the left side upper A arm. it is just long enough to Zip tie it on the bottom of that A arm. no need to open the Frunk lid. The liner can sit in its spot without the push pins. Lamonster recomends leaving them out for EZ access to the Battery area.
