Recalls do get notification. Service bulletins are another matter, and few manufacturers notify owners about them. Thanks BigRed1!
I was reading about the throttle body notice when I decided to post this message. I agree, BRP has a LONG way to go on customer notifications. As a minimum, I would expect them to have a section on their website to review any of the notices that they have been published. The only thing there is a 'Recall' section that only lists a notice for the reverse actuator issue on the RT with manual transmissions.
I find out about many of the service bulletins, TSBs, or Warranty Campaigns (BRPs term) from my dealer. I hear about others here. I had throttle fault codes and "Check Engine" lights, plus some other issues, so I visited the dealer a few weeks back for warranty service. I had heard a rumor that a bulletin was about to be released for the throttle body failures, and my tech contacted BRP about my problem and confirmed this. When the TSB was issued, I learned of that fact here first...then visited my dealer to view the actual bulletin. I agree that since this is preventative in nature, the owners of 2011 RTs should be notified. There was a rumor that they would, but I never received any notification.OK, maybe my terminology was incorrect. I was calling the maintenance bulletins what you are calling service bulletins. I would still like to see a place that I can go to review any outstanding items that are available. How did anyone find out there was a service bulletin out for the throttle bodies?
I love my Spyder and want to keep it in good shape and want to make sure I have covered the items that 'should' be addressed via these bulletins.
As far as recalls; I have had several recalls that I have found out about via other means, not from the factory. These were for automobiles, not the Spyder. I do review sites like the NTSB to see if there are any listed for my automobiles.
Sorry if I came off strong on this, or my prior, post, but I would think it would be in BRP's best interest to 'get the word out'.
just my $0.02 worth....
Guess I will just keep up with this site. It really is a great place to get information and a lot of good folk as well.
Long before most dealers know about a service bulletin , You'll read about it here first.
Does the dealer have to do the service upgrades even if nothing is apparently wrong if asked? Also, is it at their cost or mine?
Recalls are another thing.
Thanks
Is there a good site, or sites, that carries a list of recall notices and maintenance bulletins for the Spyder? I would like to see the trends of what is going on with BRP on their issues. I also want to make sure I am covered on any recalls or important maintenance notices.
