• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So you got tired of defending your position and closed the thread.
Not nice.

So you said:

"Those users all get redirected to their welcome post once they verify their email after signup

1. That was partially answered in this post, why would i create a post for a user that hasnt verified their email? "

I don't know why you would do that but your wording implies that the post has already been created and the new user is just directed to it later.

What does Lamont think about this ?
What about a PM or email to the new users.......so that all the rest of us would not have to wade through all of them.

Let's see if I can create a poll:

Yes the poll worked.
Please participate.

Sorry don't know what the fuss is:p welcome every "New" member , we just like the ones that post & participate more. :roflblack: verified email helps I guess makes it sound more like a place to shop than talking about:ani29:

why do some feel it so necessary to put their nose where it doesn't belong?
You want to run things, ER?
Start your own forum.
You are close to taking over the other Spyder forum so run with it and close the door behind you here.

OMG Dave, be careful what you ask for :gaah::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:...……….. Mike

I closed it because of the forum member ThreeWheels that asked politely to have them removed or filtered from the whats new link, so the thread was moot.

Seeing as you cant grasp a simple concept, ill try to explain it a bit here:
User signs up.
User is sent a confirmation email
User clicks verification link in email
Thread is created
User comes to site, theyre redirected to their post.

Again, why would i create a welcome thread for a user that isnt even a member yet lmfao <-- Not the 1st time i posted that to you.

I would suggest you email, pm or call Lamont for his opinion on the welcome threads.

Please notify me when all 21k + members vote on your poll, to solidify your claim that "everybody" wants them gone.

I like the idea of automatic welcome messages going to new members. I don't like the idea of those automatic posts going to all of us. I know there were 4 people who regularly responded to all the new member posts. Good for them. But, if all us members did likewise and welcomed each new member, I think the forum would come to a grinding halt with nothing on it but welcome messages. I believe members participate in their own time and for their own reasons. It's nice to have a welcome message go out to new members with good and important information. But, I don't think a copy of that message needs to go out to all the rest of us forum members..... Jim

If you read the other thread canamjhb, you would know that those threads will no longer be indexed aka searchable & show up on the whats new link.

I think you should have a 3rd option on this poll "No Opinion" or "I Don't Care" . Those messages do seem to take up a lot of space but I can ignore those posts just as I do many others. The Forum used to seem pretty simple to use and does seem to have gotten more complicated in the last weeks. The one thing I think many of you may need reminded of is This is Lamont's forum and he makes the rules, at least I hope that is still true.

I'm happy with whatever is to be BUT many newcomers join to be able to view pictures in threads and to research the Vehicles! I bet if you asked them Most would decline having a Special Thread to announce their arrival? And I don't care if there are 10,000 members because only about a couple hundred actually follow on a regular basis. I'm still a member of Scooter Dawg and have not been there in years? Merry Christmas!

Added option of "I don't care" 2paw

Also ER, you set your poll to expire in 30 days, i bumped that up for you to 180 days, which i dont think youll have enough time to get all 21k + members to vote by then.

Thanks Anthony. This all happened very quickly with, I think, changes happening while posts were being typed. I like the way the filter is working and think it is doing exactly what I was trying to explain.....?

Its not a filter, i simply disabled that forum from indexing its post in the search engine, which is what "whats new" is.

You should read his original post if you want to know what all has already happened.

If you don’t want to welcome new members, then don’t. But you were new at one time too. It’s nice to feel welcome.

ER, you're going to "lose" your poll. It's the wrong question because nobody ever wanted to say the new members shouldn't be welcomed. At least for me, I just didn't want to see a dozen automated threads in the "what's new" section. Anthony has now resolved that issue, addressing my initial concern. If this simple solution had been mentioned at the beginning, a lot of grief and unnecessary sarcastic and snarky comments would have been spared.

I was not the one who posted the first negative comment about it.

How about taking those other guys to task too ??

How about not taking ANYBODY to task for expressing an honest opinion ???

I can get sarcastic, especially to rude ppl.

It’s easier to ask for something you want in a nice way like threewheel did, versus bashing something you don’t like, like others did.

Are you ready for this Bob........
There was no personal insult in any of my posts and I expect there to NOT be any personal insults coming back FROM FORUM OFFICIALS either.

Perfect.
That can be done with a PM or an email.
