If you read the other thread canamjhb, you would know that those threads will no longer be indexed aka searchable & show up on the whats new link.

I do not remember seeing THAT post.

I had just done a "new posts" scan before I created this thread and several of them were in there.

ER, you're going to "lose" your poll. It's the wrong question because nobody ever wanted to say the new members shouldn't be welcomed. At least for me, I just didn't want to see a dozen automated threads in the "what's new" section.

The poll does say AUTOMATED. But probably not everybody will see that.

There was no personal insult in any of my posts and I expect there to NOT be any personal insults coming back FROM FORUM OFFICIALS either.

His original complaint wasn’t about it being automated, it was about them flooding his what’s new link.

Just like the post above where you state you didn’t read my post about them being removed already before you made this poll, it’s obvious you didn’t read his post either.

I just read "the other thread" again......twice......and did NOT see that mentioned anywhere.
Could you point out where it is, please ?

I just went through the closed "Welcoming New Members" thread for the third time.......
And did not see this anywhere:

It is now a dead issue.
The automated "new member welcome" posts do not show up in the new message scans anymore for existing users........and THAT was the complaint in the first place.

Given that the situation has now changed, I think this thread should be removed.

1. I liked being welcomed here when I first started posting. I'd prefer those welcomes to a software-generated one.
2. I didn't respond to all the auto-welcomes, since they were . . . well. . .automated. I prefer not interacting with robots.
3. I didn't like the auto-welcomes filling up the new posts listing. Thanks for removing them.
4. When a new member first posts, or when I first notice them on the forum, I'll try to welcome them personally.
