• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oil Leak

:opps:I STAND CORRECTED

I looked up the part number on BRP site and its 705500506 for the oil res

and 420250640 for the engine plug. The one on the left is definately the engine plug! I have them right in front of me and looked up the part numbers on BRP

If the tech was distracted for just a second, it would be easy to grab the oil tank washer and put it on the crank case drain plug. Since it has a larger ID than the correct drain plug washer, it would fit, but obviously not seal and create the leak. Not sure the crank case washer with its smaller ID would fit over the oil tank plug. If the oil tank isn't leaking and you just have to replace the crank case washer, at least you won't lose much oil.

I know it's not convenient to remove both oil plugs since you've just had an oil change done but I believe that it's very apparent which washer goes on which plug if you have both plugs in your hand.

I happened to be talking to your dealer today and mentioned your oil leak. They said they would love for you to bring it back in. They have a 30 day warranty on all there work. I guess BRP didn't name them the #1 dealer in the US for nothing. ;)

I'm sure you can correct it yourself, but if you don't want to you don't have to. May want to double check the procedure for checking the oil too. Different from anything else I have ever owned.

Good Luck and Happy Riding!

I already fixed it myself. Unfornately, this isn't the only issue I had with the service department:

- When I dropped it off, I was told the work wouldn't be performed on the 11th or 12th, but I didn't get it back until the 18th.
- I showed them I was missing a bolt to the right of the trunk hinge, but they failed to install a new one until I double-checked their work prior to leaving.
- Initially, they were only going to give me my credit card reciept. I had to ask for an itemized invoice.
- I asked if someone was going to walk me through what they did, but I was basically told what they did is in the manual.

I've had two dealings with them so far, one sales and one service, and I've not walked away from either feeling happy.

I'll be doing my own oil changes from now on. I'll decide what to do about future scheduled maintenance when the time comes.

Sorry to hear that. I have talked to Mike numerous times in the service dept. and he knows the spyder in and out. I know he does the downloads and that is why they haven't had any problems yet with the 20+ they have done. I guess it doesn't matter if the people doing the other work aren't as good or having a bad day.:( You should feel confident about your dealer.

I hate having an uneasy feeling about a dealership. The dealer where I bought mine, I was happy with the sales and parts dept., but wasn't sure about the service dept. They were so far away I wasn't sure if I would take it there to have any service work done. I did the first service myself and when the recall came out it was time for the 3K mile service so I had them go ahead and do it. That was when they messed up the download and I haven't been back. Found a new dealer closer and they were able to fix their mess.

Anyway, have fun on your upcoming vacation!
I am so jealous.

Mike is definitely the "go to" guy in town and he knows his stuff. He personally did my update and I've had no problems. Actually, he was quite adamant that this wasn't a BRP problem, but a dealer problem, and they need to follow the instructions per BRP.
