• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oh My Aching Butt...

I rode about 140 miles today and boy do I miss the seat on my 'Wing! This seat seems a lot like the one from my old vMax's, too rounded which creates a big pressure point in the middle of my too-big butt. Obviously a priority is to do something about this seat.
What is the general feeling about which is the most comfortable seat? Also a big factor for me is to maintain the sporty look of the Phantom while getting something much more comfortable.

TIA

:2thumbs:Corbin!! Ihave the Phantom as well and Corbin seats with Gun Slinger back rest, the pipeing on them is white and looks real sharp with the Phantom as well as comfortable . Install was easy as well.

You will read on here about two different after market seats: the corbin and the russell day-long.

Everyone who has either are very happy with their seat (as far as I can tell) so at this point it is more of a personal preference.

I have a Corbin seat and am very happy with it. Use the search feature and do a little research. I know there are lots of pics on here and lots of review of both products.

I've had several of the other seats and the best one so far is the Russell Daylong, by a long shot.

Lots of folks love the Russell Daylong and lots of people like the Corbin. I went with the Corbin. Why? :dontknow: I really do love it. :D

I have the Corbin and absolutely LOVE IT! I had awful tailbone issues with the stock seat, and the Corbin eliminated all BUTT problems immediately, from Day 1. It was tough for me to part with the $$$, but I'm so glad I did!

GO CORBIN!!!

I have a Corbin seat........that said, I'd like to offer another suggestion. The ride position of the :spyder2: is not at all like a Goldwing (I had a Goldwing at one time - very comfortable ride)... By adding some highway pegs, floorboards, etc to change your sitting position would add many more comfortable miles to your ride.

Check out NMN for the highway peg brackets.. plus other threads on the Forum about floorboards, etc.

Hey, I am sending my seat to http://www.meancitycycles.com/contact.php

They will reshape the seat so you are sitting in the seat and not on the seat. They add a special seat memory foam and you will not be sitting high and you wont be leaning downward anymore. The stock skin goes back on the seat and you will still have the sporty look and not that gaudy look after market seats have . They are great people to deal with. They make you an appoinment. You send the seat in so it is there the day before or sooner and the the day of your appointment they do the seat and ship it back to you the same day. So yur down time is very short. They are charging me $175.00 to reashape and add the memory foam. You pay return shipping. Again call these peopl and talk to them. I know you will be happy you did. Good luck.

The stock Spyder seat bites .

Corbin has been a great seat. Some have had issues of the driver 'sliding forward' , etc. - which I originally felt - but after it broke in it is perfect! If you get one and feel the forward slide---- just give it a good 1,000 miles to break in and you should be fine.

I gave mine a good 15,000 miles and I still slid forward. I fixed that though. :doorag:

Does anyone have experiece with the new BRP seat yet?

I too have serious tailbone (and further forward) issues with the stock seat. My bar riser has helped increase my ride time between numbness from 1/2 hour to maybe 50 minutes due to better riding position, but it still gets pretty bad on the way to numbness.

I would love to be able to ride for an hour or two between stops to stretch and regain feeling in my rear end.

I added an AirHawk cushion to my Corbin seat. Stopped me from feeling like I was sliding forward and gives me a nice cushy ride.

:agree: The longer I ryde with my Corbin seat, the better it fits. :D

I know, some people might think I'm used to sliding and I compensate for it, but I don't think that's the case. It really does fit better with more miles my butt is in it.

Anyway, buy which ever aftermarket seat you like...they're all better than stock!

It was interesting to compare our two Corbin seats. Mine had more of a 'bowl' to it - which I believe is due to being broken in -- about 4,000 miles now. I know for a fact that I used to slide forward--- and I no longer do - it's not just that I got used to it.

Any seat has got to be better than stock.

i do not like the look of corbin or brp seats neither. i was gonna get brp seat cover and call it a day but this may be a good option underneath brp cover. please let us know how it works out for you.:2thumbs:

is it memory foam that retains it's shape or ones that bounce back?
