• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dynamic Power Steering (DPS)

For the last few weeks, we have seen a rising number of complaints regarding the performance of the Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) of the Can-AmSpyder roadster. We would like everyone in the Spyder Community to know that we are very active on the WEB and have heard and read your comments and concerns. As a manufacturer, we highly value your feedback and want to thank everybody who has participated in these discussions.

In order to respond quickly, we have sent several of our most experienced technicians and engineers on the road to inspect, road test and diagnose numerous potentially defective vehicles. We are still actively investigating these reports. As you may well understand, we will still need a few more weeks before coming up with a final conclusion. In the mean time, if you have experienced steering problems with your roadster, it is important to report this to your dealer as soon as possible.

We continue to appreciate hearing your feedback and concerns and are available for any questions by phone at 1-866-767-0707 or by email to Carlo at: [email protected].

Please keep in mind that BRP is very proud of the Spyder community and its ambassadors. We will keep you and your dealer posted when more information becomes available.

Thank you for your understanding and support,

The Can-Am Spyder After-Sales Support Team

Refreshing to know that they aren't ignoring the problem. I am still passing on the DPS updates yet again, I just don't trust it.

The update doesnt cause the "steering anomaly" but it doesn't seem to cure it either. I hope it works out that those of us with problem will give BRP what they need, to have a 100% cure. In the meantime just be mentally ready to react accordingly.

Hope that calms things down a bit out here!

I just now calmed down about the smokes---I think BRP should have a message scroll across the dash.
PUT YOUR HELMET ON DUDE

ok ok ok I'm over it------so whats the next thing to worry about.
When I have nothing to worry about I still take my Med's

I am impressed. I have ridden BMW's since 1975 with a couple of Yamahas and Hondas thrown in the mix. For the most part, BMW builds a good, reliable, fine handling and riding motorcycle. But in the years I have ridden them they have had several problems that were/are well known in the riding communities and by the dealers as well. NEVER - EVER - to my knowledge, did the BMW factory publicly acknowledge that they had a problem. I am impressed that BRP is working on the problem and doesn't mind admitting that they are.

I WILL buy a Spyder! Just a matter of putting the dollars together.

I wonder if they are coming to IL? We are supposed to have some nice weather here. If they decide to ride mine maybe they could stop at 5000 miles and get a pic of the odometer for me since it is real close now. I was really hoping to have it back by this weekend to get a good ride in. Too bad my dealer doesn't have his RT yet, I guess I would settle for riding it.

:2thumbs: Thanks BRP and a big :2thumbs: for Lamonster for sticking with us. All we need now is Scotty to come back from the dark side.

I talked to Carlo this week and BRP is definately taking this seriously, as they should. In some cases the factory tech was at the dealer before the dealer had a chance to get to it. I think sending techs to the bikes is a wonderful idea and hopefully a definate answer is around the corner.

Great Message

...and thanks Lamont!
I'm going to visit my SPYDER this afternoon (YEAH! I miss my girl. Haven't saddled up in over a week....w i t h d r a w a l !)
I will pass the info along to my folks in sales, service and parts. They are always on top of things, but I want to make sure they are aware they MIGHT get a visit.
...and thanks to all other RYDERS for keeping the comments about your experiences coming in. If we want to consider ourselves a SPYDER community, we HAVE to communicate.
