• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Wireless, Bluetooth, & Camera "fun" - (But not via BRP Go/Connect)

I gave up on BRP bluetooth on my F3 other than listening to music from my phone. Since my wife wants to enjoy the ride out in the open without music, I really don't use the BRP bluetooth much. But here's my newest BT adventure:

I had been using a handlebar-mounted rechargeable camera with SD card to store video (no screen). I wanted to get a decent quality mounted camera. I ordered a fairly new model that has: 2K Front & Back cameras as well as other "nifty" features such as GPS, TPMS, speed, distance, trip miles, CarPlay, BT phone answering, and the other apple features enabled via carplay. I just installed it and am looking at a variety of features. For example:
  • handlebar mounted 7" touchscreen
  • wireless download of videos to phone
  • real-time video viewing of both recorded video and live camera view of Ft & Bk via wireless WiFi
  • indicators on video screen of danger collision possibility (would seem to be too late?)
  • I think it has a security mode where the video wakes up if suspicious activity is suspected (not sure what this does to battery drain, probably a good thing if you want to watch the bike while dining inside a restaurant?)
  • Apple (and Android) CarPlay apps and all this entails (maps GPS etc)
  • Phone answering button (mounted on handlebar near handgrip)
  • Here's my Bluetooth question/issue potential. If anyone has more bluetooth technical specification experience, maybe you can help out:
    • It seems to matter with some devices the ordering of power up or connections?
    • We have been using a wireless headset for several years and we enjoy being able to talk while riding. But will the BT to on this device interfere?
    • The BT devices involved now could include: BRP (which I don't care about), phone, GPS via new screen/phone & verbal instructions, headset communications etc
    • I'm hoping our headsets still function and won't be overridden by this other device. The headsets already had/have phone capability. But this carplay device does as well.
    • Looking at all the potential BT interference and interactions makes my head spin ....
    • Any advice / experience you can offer is appreciated?
Oh BTW, there aren't very many of these devices offering TPMS for 3 wheels. And this one only has two. So ... tire pressure is on screen for the back tire and one of the front ones. A nice feature but I'm hoping that since the software is able to be upgraded, perhaps in the future they will support 3 wheels.

Bluetooth answers...maybe... ;)

The documentation for the model of bluetooth headsets is going to be where most of your answers are located.

I ride with a SENA 3S Plus bluetooth headset in my helmet.
It allows for connections to two separate phones, a GPS device, and also has intercom settings.
I have the first phone connection paired to my Apple iPhone.
I have the "GPS" setting paired to my Spyder.
I ride solo, so I haven't done anything with the intercom settings.

Setup sequence for me:
1 - turn on Spyder and wait to roll the throttle forward when it asks (press the MODE button for older models)
2 - turn on my headset
3 - plug my iPhone into the USB cable in the glove box

As I do steps 2 and 3 there are connection messages that show up on the Spyder's display.

Check instructions & maybe contact manufacturer for sequence of connections. Some may take priority while others can be a hub to pass through. Might get all working before starting Spyder-good luck & patience
