• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

new/different oil filter SM5 AND OTHERS ??

Got a oil filter kit today for the SM5, and noticed the filter is a steel mesh type ?? Changed oil in June this year and it was a paper style ? Anyone else experience this, was told the change happened about August this year but no explanation as to why ?????????

The change was made several months ago, as you have learned. US owners of record (except CA) were notified, and received a revised copy of the maintenance schedule, along with a voucher for the revised left lower (oil change) panel. I'm not sure of other countries. The new oil filter is reinforced. The new transmission filter is also longer, and comes with a longer cover. After the new oil filters are installed, the oil change interval is extended to 7500 km (4600 mi), except in California, where it is not approved. I'd contact your dealer to try to get a copy of the new maintenance schedule.

Thank's Scotty, do remember seeing about the oil change interval, However nothing about the updated heavy duty type oil filter. They must have had some units collapse/fail, maybe with the newer RS/RT ?? Must be a reason.

Hey guys. Here in Canada I did receive the updated maintenance schedule in the mail. I have learned about the new filter outside of that, but expect to use it soon in my oil change next week once I get it.

Sorry to resurrect and old thread. But I have a question!
Does the new filter fit inside the "old" housing?
Does it require some new parts?

Context - I have a brand new 2011 (non-current) that I just got, and I am unsure what will happen at the first oil change. I assume BRP discontinued the old filter?

For the sm5 the only thing that changed was the filter itself. Nothing else.
