I have a 2012 RTS.
I need to replace my rear tire. Without getting into too much research, which tire do you all recommend?? Approximate cost??

I live in Canada so I'm sure which ever tire I purchase it will be more $$.

Thanks for any suggestions.

2012 rs

A lot of spyderlovers have gone with the kumho it's a great tire for the price. I replace mine when I had 14000 miles on my rs and was still on it when I traded it in with 35000 miles!

If you try to order online from some of the more well-known places; they'll ask you what vehicle it's for...
DON'T mention the Spyder... they won't sell it to you! nojoke
Tell them that it's for a 2001 Toyota Tacoma (Base 2wd model)
Your spare tire needed replacing.

I bought a Kumho Ecsta AST 225/50R15 from discounttiredirect.com delivered to my door for $121 Can.
I have no complaints at all with this tire.

Hi Dave here
One of my customers came in on Wednesday and he had a new tire he got at Costco
it was a Michelin.. if it works as good on the Spyder as they do on my car it should
easily out do the stock tire.. he said it was less than the dealer wants for a stock tire.
Go check it out

Hydroedge Michelin. Have installed mine plus another on a friends, both on 2012 RTL. We are also from Canada and I know Denray Tire had them in stock yet a year ago,a little pricier than out of the US but hard to find now in the US as they changed the tread design and call them a defender.

FIRST, make sure you have someone who will mount the tire for you. I have heard of some dealers who will not mount a tire they do not sell, mount a tire that is other than OEM, or will not mount a tire that is a car tire.

After determining this, then consider what tires are available that you can get mounted. I recommend the Michelin Defender, which I run on the front of my Spyder RT. I have the Michelin HydroEdge on the rear, but that tire is now discontinued, so it may be hard or impossible to find.

I would recommend you consider a different size tire than the OEM. I put the 215/60R15 on the rear of my RT instead of the normal 225/55R15, and found that my speedometer is never more than 1 MPH off from my Garmin GPS, & is often showing the same speed as the GPS.

Agree on the 215/60/15 tire. I'm using a Michelin Primacy and after 6,000 miles it is handling and wearing well. The speedo is accurate now too.
