• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

motorcycle show and brp sales rep (syracuse, ny)

Long story short- specifically went to talk to the BRP sales rep to see what he had to say about the current steering issues. He said he didn't know there were any.

I explained what was going on and he still said he hadn't hear of any issue since the first update. And, he was a BRP sales rep., not just a sales rep from a dealer that sells BRP product. Makes me wonder about BRP.

Doesn't surprise me. Whether he knew about it or not, it's not the sales rep's job to discuss that at a show.

Are you sure he worked directly for BRP. At a spyder road show last summer at the local dealer, these guys didn't know about the impending recall. Turns out they worked for a independent contractor to do these demos and shows for BRP. :dontknow:

He worked directly for BRP and introduced himself as such. There was someone else there from a delaer in the area.

I don't care if he was a sales rep or a tech rep; they represent BRP and should be knowledgeable about any problems. He knew about both recalls.

I stepped aside with him to ask the question. No one else was listening.

My point to all this is BRP seems to be keeping their own people in the dark.

Maybe you should report him to Carlos.

My guess is that with the legal issues involved in publicly admitting there is a problem, that all employees who are dealing with the public at large are probably instructed, perhaps even under penalty of dismissal, not to discuss/admit or suggest that there may be a problem. In my opinion this is not unique to BRP. Toyota claimed they never had a problem with accelerators in there cars, said it was all in the customers heads. Denied everything until they were blue in the face. Now several models their cars and SUV's have been voluntarily recalled for accelerator problems. Until there is an actual fix to a specific problem in the steering or other system that they have pinned down no one is going to hear a word.

I spent the better part of my 14 years in the computer industry working under contract. One of those contracts was to attend trade shows both large and small regional shows as an IBM marketing guy... I was not allowed to disclose that I was not a direct employee of IBM. I would take your conversation with him with a grain of salt if he was a young guy. - That is usually the first clue.

leaving for the show in a few minutes. Will ask the same question. See what they say. I have been thrown out of there before, maybe again!!

The young guy is from a dealer in Phoenix, NY. The older guy (in his 50's) is the one that said he works directly for BRP. His name is Dave; I asked for a business card, but he was either out or had none (can't remember).
