• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Tech school solution:

#2 flat tip screwdriver. Use slot on push pin rivet to raise center part 5mm. Pull on whole part to remove whole assembly. No scratching, no damage, no drama. Done is good, faster is better!

............:gaah:.............There are people who BUILD......and then there are people who wait for it to be BUILT ..........................I am definitely in the first category...................................I've designed three different things for my new 2014 RT since I bought it 10 days ago.....How many are you up to now ? ? ?:ohyea::roflblack::roflblack: :roflblack:

I have also designed 3 items for my :spyder2: nope 4
1. modified seat for hidden gas door
2. modified rear trunk lid for dog seat
3. modified Garmin mount to fit Tri-Axis handle bars
Oh yes 4. magnetic mount for KOTT grill
But I am not in a race:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
Now if I could only come up with a way for the :spyder2: to clean itself:clap:
Keep thinking I like your ideas
Don
I could have all the fun without the work

spyderpops

Harvey used these pliers looked like Oetiker clamp removal type pliers or maybe even brake spring pliers impressed the heck out of me when I was at his place, but i'm easily impressed.

Push pins

This is the tool that I use. took all of 2 minutes to make back in 2008. Flat blade (1/8 inch wide), heated the tip red hot and gently bend to the shape shown. Rounded all shape corners and polished. Works like a crowbar to lift the center pin. Then you pop out the rest of the rivet. Pictures are included to prove it's real.

:agree:....This is great I love another DIY'er ,, Of course here at Spyderlovers...The DIY 'ers are frowned upon and shunned. Spyderlovers has changed......I think in the past year mostly.....You post an IDEA....and five people tear you and your IDEA apart..............Last month I asked for some Help in possibly getting a ride from the Airport to the Dealer to pick-up my new Spyder........From the response I got from a few people you would've thought I was asking for PERSONAL DONATIONS so I could buy it.........Oh well it is what it is.......:dontknow: :lecturef_smilie:....................I'm going to be me whether some people like it or not ..............Mikeguyver..

That's ok Mike, just keep up that Yankee spirit and the rest of us will try to learn new things from you

Based on two "stupid" posts

I am not sure of whether or not you are angry or being sarcastic.

:agree: I have been a spyder owner since 08. My 08 GS has been the only spyder that has been to dealer for service, That was for steering recall.
I guess this is why I stopped posting here, I still luv this site for the USEFUL info you can get here.. It must be a VERMONT Thing.
Some folks here post only to increase their post numbers...Sorry I guess I'm just a shadetree Southern guy

PUSH-PINS

I know you like to invent things but why not push pin pliers?

:gaah:....Just off the top of my I can think of three..........complex.....scratches.....difficulty in making them ....OK..................I know I didn't post a PIC but from my description if you can't picture it................I don't think a PIC would help you :dontknow:.........................It's like a miniature pry bar.............because of the thin sharp front edge it easily slips under the push-pin.....uniformly pushes up on both sides simultaneously and makes extracting the main body of the PIN a breeze.......at this point of this thread ...Please don't anyone use this because I thought of it and you didn't ...and that seems to be upsetting to some people .....sheeeeeeeeeeeeesh....

Unfortunately, I'm fairly certain we aren't venturing into uncharted, innovative territory here....

In 2007 when I bought my GS
instead of complaining about the bike I fixed things the way I liked them
So keep up the good work and keep posting your ideas
Not everyone here wants to buy things when we can make them
besides my nearest store is 80 miles from home
That's what keeps your mind young:yes::yes:

OK ????????

......And you have already used all of these on you're Spyder ......Well had I known that I wouldn't have bothered telling everyone what I thought was a " NEW DISCOVERY "

Very cool you made the tool that fulfills your needs and expectations.

Some of the other tools shown above for removing automotive trim may or may not work well for this application. I have those tools for other vehicles or jobs and tried them first, including a round and polished tip flat screwdriver used for spurring buffing pads.

I could have purchased these specialty pliers from Harbor Freight, but paid more to support the tool truck and saved the trip, making the price within a couple dollars when compared.

These specialty pliers work well, and may be a little easier to obtain rather than fabricate for some that do not have access to the steel, grinder or a small workshop to build the specialty tool.

Again, glad it works for you.

...Mr. easysuper you are correct you don't know me personally, nor do you know me at all..........." really conceited, and a better than any one else person ".............:gaah:............I have given your assessment some considerable thought and I couldn't think of anyone I know who is less conceited than me !.......I'm 67 with one foot in the " grave ", my body parts are failing , especially the important ones , so I can't imagine WHAT I would have to be conceited about ? ? ?.................annnnnnnnnnnd I do try to pass along things I've learned over the years and in my experiences, ..Do you think that's WRONG ??????.................There are people in this world who when you offer them a hand .....they resent it and the person making the offer...............Those people I'm sorry to say are somehow Diminished by this. I sincerely hope you can find peace and happiness with yourself. I truly feel sorry for someone who can make the kind of judgement call you have made based on what you REALLY know ....which isn't much......................................Love Mikeguyver ....
