There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Magic Man - Triple Play question

Hey Magic Man I know that the CANBUS is a very finiky creature and to just add lights to your spyder as you desire will cause the CANBUS to have a hissy fit. Obviously the "black box" of the triple play (which by the way I do have installed) looks after this CANBUS issue. With this in mind is it possible to tap into the outputs of the triple play black box to add additional lighting. For example if I wanted to replace the licence plate light with a brake light can I just tap into the installed NMN middle brake light (i.e. black box outputs for it) or will adding the additional load to the NMN triple play black box cause problems. What about taping into the triple play outputs to control a relay that sends power to additional lights ?

Thanks in advance.

If you tap into the Triple Play and it goes up in smoke that is not a warranty issue. :lecturef_smilie:

What you want to install it's load and functions all will depend as to if it will be all smiles or tears after you are done.

To tell you it will or won't work without knowing what it is and it's needs is shear guess work from here. :dontknow:

Sometime the "D" in "R&D" is for destruction! :yikes:

Thanks for the reply MagicMan. So what you are really trying to say is that to protect my investment I should wait for NMN to come out with a product that does want I want :bowdown::bowdown:

Why don't you just get the NMN taillight...it's really bright...that, along with the triple play, gives you a lot of visibility...unlikely to need more...

Bonecrusher I do have the MNM triple Play and the NMN middle brake light. I am considering adding hardcases to my spyder and was thinking about how I might be able to add brake lights to the hard cases as well.

Perfect Evan ..Perfect.. The R and D that goes into your product is awesome to have it behave correctly and still have a path for upgrades/ additional functionality as u build on it .. You didn t go to RPI did You?

My Givi's -both the V46 and V35 have aftermarket LED kits for both with quick disconnects for all three.

I'm glad you posted your question as I was thinking of getting the NMN kit for both middle brake and triple play.... Now I'll have to rethink if I can do both triple play and middle brake light, as well the case lights.

Does anyone know the exact load limits on the CAN AM bus? I might be able to craft my own circuit given my background... But would rather buy off the shelf.

I've been considering this option, too, if Nancy gets her hard bags. We presently have the NMN center taillight and HyperLites, without problems. Not sure how much more LED load the system will stand. If we had the specs on the load for the aftermarket lights, it would probably be helpful, but this may come down to trial & (expensive) error.

Gotcha...I'm considering getting the Givi or Givi Spyder bags sooner or later...please post pics of them with rear lights so that we can get an idea...

V46 top case led lights. (not the GIVI standard set).

and the V35 LED kits.

They state their V46 kit--- Using high intensity, high efficiency LED bulbs, our brake light kit draws only 180ma with the brakes applied compared to the 635ma standard that you can get with the Givi.

Now... I'd assume the side cases use more than 180ma each as they seem to have more LEDs.

I want the best of both worlds.... To have higher visibility for the rear of the bike... I want that thing to light up like a christmas tree no matter how obnoxious it may look.

I think it would look actually cool from the rear to have the mud flap lights, all three case lights, and the middle brake light. ... Having those givi sides cases add to the directionals would make me feel a lot safer.
