• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Low Fuel Light on 2011 Limited

I took my new rt s on a shake down ride of 2000 miles a few weeks ago. I did all the blue ridge park way going north and again most going south. Also did side trips. The parkway speeds provided good milage, 38 mpg on 2 tanks. Side trips that allowed higher speeds dropped milage as low as 28 mpg. The rt did great, very pleased. I believe the dealer in Columbus Ga. set it up right. I made one high speed emergency stop sw of tellico plains, tn. because of tree across the road, with confidence building results. Traded a tmax scooter and a st 1300 on the rt., caused by my aging body. I feel I did good!

:welcome:
You are getting much better mileage than most on the RT :congrats:

The Infamous Flashing "R"

The flashing "R" means you are in reverse. The low fuel warning shows a gas pump, and doesn't flash. Your manual has an explanation of all these icons.

That flashing "R" doesn't stand for REV? Well no wonder it never worked the way I thought it should.:roflblack:

Gas light

On our ride sponsored by Caswell's cycle in Mora MN I averaged 36.2 mpg with my new RT- s. All was at or below speed limit. Light came on steady at 148 miles, filled at 156 miles and it took just a shade over 4.2 gallons. The gas gauge was not in the red zone. Not at all unhappy with that kind of mileage. One up and there was only about a 10 mile stretch where the speed limit was 65 mph.

Today, at 147 miles, there was no warning light but the gas gauge was near the bottom of the red.

To my surprise, I pumped in only 4.6 gallons.

Most of those miles were on the Blue Ridge Parkway and not at typical highway speed or rpm.

Just a quick question......I have looked in my manual, but can find no information on a "Low" fuel light, but read about it on the various forums...At what point, or with how much gas left in the tank does it come on, and I am asuming that the Limited has one. Can someone set this newbie strait?:dontknow:

2011 Limited also ,
i have yet to see a low fuel light come on ,,, but when gas gauge is in the red i can only get 4 gallons of gas in tank
by mileage i have only used 4 gallons , something must be wrong with my gauge ..

I had to clinch hard as my 2011 Limited gas gauge went almost to the bottom as well. Finally, when I decided I could not stretch it any further and started to pull into a station, my low fuel light started to flitter. It did come on and then go off and then back on as I started and stopped, but I did see it. Like you, I was only able to pump about 5 gallons into the tank. That gave me about 1.5 gallons reserve. I 'think' the tank is 6.6 gallons. That give me another 30-50 miles, but not sure I have the heart to stretch it that far while I am looking at the gauge hitting the bottom.

Does anyone know if the fuel gauge on the digital console is calibrated any better? I have been thinking about removing the fuel and temp gauges and adding voltage and oil. That way I have all 4 that I am used to in my cars.

For me knowing how many bars I have left is easier to figure how much farther I can go. Of course I have also run out of gas two days in a row before realizing that I was not completely filling the tank, and could still put a half to 3/4 of a gallon in her. Now I pay attention to when the first bar drops around 30 + miles have been racked up I know I started with a full tank.

Played hookie yesterday

Beautiful day in Central PA, so took off from Harrisburg down into Delaware and went to one of my favorite museums. Made a few stops along the way; took a little longer than usual because of SpyderTime!

At 150 miles into the tank, my low fuel light still hadn't popped on (it usually does at about 110mi), and I still had a bar on the gauge.

That's the difference between stop and go driving (I average 30-32 mpg) and steady cruising on roads with no stop and go and 45-65 mph. I averaged 38 mpg !!!

Put about 200mi on yesterday, in 75-85 degrees and sun only slightly broken by the occasional cloud. Oh, and the humidity was about 50%... perfect.

I will ask one question, though. Where do I get that map thingy I see on a lot of post that track which states/provinces you've been in. I want to see if I can fill mine!
