• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Let the Mods begin.......

Well, I'm totally new to the RT world since wrecking my GS.... so I'm here to learn from what all of you have done to your RT's.
Here are some things I wanting to do......looking for input. One thing I've decided on for my RT is that I want every mod to look as 'factory' as possible. No wires hanging from GPS or Radar detector, etc.....

Here's what I have going on so far:

Elka Shocks --- fronts installed by Len. Waiting on back until she goes bad.

Highway pegs----- ordered the kit from Lamont.

RT Radiator Block-Off Plate - on order from Spyderpops

RT Catalytic Converter shield - on order from Spyderpops (can't believe the heat that passenger was getting).

RT Bumpskid - on order from Spyderpops.

New front and rear speakers - on order from Custom Dynamics.

------------------------

Other things I need to do in the near future:

Mount Zumo 550. Want a professional looking setup - with it wired into audio system. Thinking of buying the BRP 660 mounting kit and then making a 'converter' bracket to fit 550.

Mount Radar Detector.

Corbin Seat. Need to decide on options - don't want any 'Spider web' stitching on the seat. Just simple black.

Grips - need to install a set of Grip Puppies over the factory ones... pretty sure I have some in stock.

Audio headphone jack and/or bluetooth transmitter.

Perhaps moving the ipod plug in to somewhere up front.

Light travel cover like the Nelson Rigg I had for my GS.

Front and rear trunk lights.

Side-case liners like I had for my R35 bags.

Headlights-- either HID or LED options. Stock ones are just TOO dim.

Gauges - don't really need anything different - but at least want to disconnect fuel so I get the digital readout instead.

TPMS--- want to see what tire pressures are without checking manually.
----------------------------------

Any ideas or input on the above (or any other mods you've done that you love) is greatly appreciated.......

Add the third brakelight to the rear trunk. It looks factory and makes you a lot more visible.

:agree: 100%

Not sure if that would work since the harness for the 660 is different on the 550, but keep us posted.

Mount Radar Detector.

Working on that myself. Got me a Cobra iRadar to connect to my iPhone... ongoing project.

Corbin Seat. Need to decide on options - don't want any 'Spider web' stitching on the seat. Just simple black.

See about asking local motorcycle seat builders. I have one here in Memphis that uses advance memory foam and can start from scratch, starting from ajusting to my size to adding a fuel compartment like Corbin's.

Get with SteveMac.

If you find LED headlights for the RT, let us know. I would really like to have these. Harley-Davidson has great LED headlights as an accessory. I wish BRP, or someone else, would offer these.

I would recommend these from http://tricled.com/Tricled.com/Home.html:

Phillips ballast...

I highly recommend the HMT and Mudflap Lights from ESI. They look like factory parts, and really light things up for safety.

Yeah--- I know-- my HD buds have them...and seeing that we use a projector housing-- and LED setup should work quite well.

Anyone know who makes the OEM lighting fixtures for the RT?

The RS ones are made by Hella... who I found does make an LED version similar to the RS housing that they sell for certain vehicles in Europe. Not a perfect match.. and never found out how to get the bulbs and mounts--- but at least I knew it had been done and therefore possibly could be retrofit to the RS fixtures.

If someone came out with a good LED headlight option to fit the RS and RT--- they'd make a killing selling them. I would love to never have to worry about burning out a headlight again.....

TPMS: http://www.doranmfg.com/PDF/Doran360Mbrochure.pdf i have found them to be very accurate every time i checked. The only thing i don't like is it takes approx 6 minutes for it to register each time you start the bike. Not bad if you need to warm up, but in the heat when warming up is much quicker, the tires won't be reading when you are ready.

Mine was installed in the glove box

cowtowns performance air intake, green filter, TBR exhaust. DEf adds on HP and runs great.

Stebil horn: loud as :cus: and you will def. be heard. :yikes:

Interesting... wonder why it takes so long to get a reading. What if you wired it so the monitor was on all the time? you should have an accurate reading then whenever you go to ride... and it shouldn't draw much from the battery.....

:agree: and would also add the "brightsides" lights on the front fenders and rear saddle bags (running lights / turn signals). They also improve the visability.

Once you start with the mods, it never ends!:roflblack::roflblack:

I don't know. Even if you leave the key on, and then restart it, you wait the 6 minutes. I tried that while getting gas. :dontknow:

Got my HID's for both headlights & foglights from KB Carstuff. Problem is, you have to disassemble the whole front end to change the headlights. But, they really light up the night.

The installation guide says you can wire it to monitor all the time, but if you wire it NOT to monitor all the time it can take up to 6 minutes for it to start reading. So it looks like it just depends on how you want to wire it.

Also going to buy some of the 'toggle' style buttons like the ones on the center console to use for garage door opener, etc..... anyone buy those yet?

Take a look at my mods thread. I used a momentary button I got from radio shack, and soldered that into the button of a keychain garage door opener remote. Tucked it all inside and put the button on one of the blanks in the console.
