• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Leaking Exhaust

Took Spydie in for an oil change and made sure to inform the dealer about the surging and popping I experienced when the bike is hot and running in stop and go traffic (after the saftey update). It didn't throw any codes when they hooked it up to the computer, but they did discover a bad exhaust gasket which had pretty much disinigrated. The tech told me that could certainly have been creating problems, but stopped short of saying that would eliminate the popping and surging. He speculated that the "joint" was not tightened properly and over time the loose fit up caused excess vibration which destroyed the gasket.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? As we are at the end of summer, my concern is I may not have the same riding conditions anymore this year that were present when these problems occurred, and by the time warm weather returns next year the Spyder will be out of warranty. Not sure how to pin the dealer down at this point.

Any suggestions or insights? :dontknow:

This is a common issue with the Spyder. They have redesigned (or changed mfg./sources) for this part.

And, many of us have changed over the Honda Goldwing gaskets, thanks to krb1945's discovery. Honda's gaskets are structurally different... more screen and less sealant.

The jury is still out on how long they will last... although, based on my knowledge of the two, the Honda gasket is good for at least twice the life of the BRP gasket... probably even much more than that.
