• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Key Programming Question

FYI for those looking for a non-chip key as a backup, I got one today and the locksmith immediately said, "oh, that is a Triumph key blank. It has number X270 on it, the brand is ILCO. Opens frunck and seat, doesn't start bike.

Hi pitzerwm,

Re: It has number X270 on it, the brand is ILCO.

Good info to know.

I just bought a similar blank from someone on here for $2.00 + a SASE. Took it up & had it cut for $1.00.

So for about 3 1/2 bucks I have a backup that will open the frunk & allow me to lift the seat.

Good deal IMO,

Jerry Baumchen

Jerry,
Are the leading edges on it beveled?
Make sure that it'll push down into the ignition switch without interference...
A 10" Flat Bastard file did the trick for me... 10 minutes of handwork, and it fit perfectly!

Hi Bob,

Re: So for about 3 1/2 bucks I have a backup that will open the frunk& allow me to lift the seat.

and: Are the leading edges on it beveled?

If you and I were to pass each other on the sidewalk, we would walk right past each other without notice. In other words, you don't know me & I don't know you.

I have spent a fair amount of time on some other forums and have watched people get into the craziest of 'urinating' contests over nothing.

That is why I try my best to parse my words before I post; and I always proof-read my posts before launching them.

Now, given that; yup, I made sure it would open the frunk & release the seat before I posted what I did.

Now, how about them apples?

PS) Just so no one misunderstands: I may complain about something regarding my Spyder or BRP but this is the most fun motorcycle I have ever owned. I just think it is a d*** shame that I live in a Winter state and she has to sit until Spring. :gaah:

PPS) I also make sure I never use any profanity on a forum; I use plenty of that in person. :sour:

It's never a bad idea; to keep an un-chipped dummy key in a handy place...
For that ONE time, that you decide to throw your jacket in the Frunk; after absent-mindedly stuffing your ignition key in a pocket!

Agree & keep one in my wallet fyi.

:2thumbs: Just checking, Bro! :D
The first thing that I did; was see if it would turn in the ignition switch... I found out about the beveling of those edges at a later date... :opps:

But I've gotten some of my best scars from those joyous events... :D

Seriously; what is that, and where do we get them?

Look for the following manufacturers and part numbers.

Ilco: ZD24RDP-SI
JMA: TRP-1D or TRP1D
Orion: ZD36LDP
Silca: ZD24RDP

It fits so many motorcycles, scooters and mopeds to list.

Thanks!
It is certainly FAR more elegant-looking, than the X-270... ;)

EDIT: I found them on EBay, and have ordered three of them. (Five bucks apiece...)
