Is the factory Trailer worth the price?

I agree with Buttsy. The Spyder is overpriced. Anything with the Can-Am logo on it is overpriced. Gee, I can't wait for my warranty to expire so I will have to pay for the overpriced parts! So why shouldn't the trailer be overpriced?

Can't wait for Honda to come out with their three-wheeler when the Can-Am patents expire. I'm sure it will be a more powerful, and much more dependable machine. And most likely much cheaper.

Just curious... what should the price be in your opinion? Personally I'm fine with it. But I am curious of what you think the RIGHT price would be.

I doubt Honda will come out with a factory trike, but if they did come out with one in the same configuration as the RT,
I would definately own one.

Short answer..."It was to me!" Same neighborhood as similar high end, styled motorcycle trailers, like the Bushtec. This is a personal preference. If you think it is a reasonable price for a great product, go for it. If you think it is overpriced, you don't need our approval to pass it by. It handles great, looks good, is slippery behind a Spyder, and has a huge cargo hold. The choice is yours.

I couldn't agree more on the trailer, I used to work at a dealership, and we sold Escapade trailers, there were many we sold for 4500-5200 in 1996-1998! I've had cheaper trailers, and there is a big difference on suspension and all around quality on the fit and finish.

Dave,
I like Teddy's review of the 622! It re-affirmed my decision that it'd be the tail behind my errrrr... Donkey when the time comes!

Hey Phil...............I will take a stab at it. The challenge is what do they compare to...........I believe BRP believes they are on an even playing field with the Honda Goldwing. When you compare them to the Goldwing they are competitive for the most part, still perhaps a little higher but its close. But in my opinion the Goldwing and the Spyder are approx. 20-25% higher than they should be. The consumer has been led astray in many sectors for sure but when you look at the volume of plastic and the off shore sourcing of components there is no justification for the price. Yes it has lots of technology involved but once designed this technology is sent off shore and created ultra cheap. I get a kick out the "chrome" you can add or is added..........its frickin plastic with a shiny surface on it? This isn't chrome for cryin out loud what happened to actual chrome? They use metal when they need structural support or exposed to heat, other than that plastic? When I said it was overpriced, it was meant to suggest for what you get the price is absurd. Don't get me wrong I love my new Spyder but there is no way in heck I would suggest its not over priced.

You know who actually looks better when compared to the Goldwing and the Spyder...............yup the previously over priced Harley?

The Spyder RT Limited starts at $ 31,999.00 in Canada get the price down around $ 24,000.00 and its more reasonable. Everyone will tell you boating is an expensive past time...........see what 32k will buy you in a boat? No not a frickin 40 foot cabin cruiser live aboard but a recreational boat.

I do not aggree with Buttsy that the spyder is over priced. Where can you go get a three wheeled bike from a factory starting at $15,900. My RT was a little over $20,000 and my other option was over $32,000 (HD Triglide). You can spend 30 plus on a RT, but that is a personal choice depending on how many extraxs you want.

I do think the 622 over priced. A good price for it would be around 10% of what the average RT sells for which would be in the $2000 to $2500 range. I would only use it a once or twice a year, so I would not justify the cost.

There are deals out there on them. I missed one of the best deals back when a Louisanna dealer sold all their RT622 for $1950 each, which I think is a good price. They had 5, 2 silver, 2 blue and 1 black...

Recently ran across this. Yes, this is tongue in cheek humor :) check it out. http://gokartsusa.com/Kandi-KD250MB2-250-Three-Wheel-Roadster-Motorcycle.aspx

Now isn't that just the cutest thing?? :roflblack: Kandi... :roflblack:
It looks maybe a bit more polished than the much-maligned Roketas...

Well thought out answer Buttsy. I asked, not to be uppity (is that even a word?!) but out of economic curiosity. I have a company that creates software, predominantly for the first responder two way communications industry. We are known for not being cheap. In fact, expensive. We are VERY unique, we are over the top excellent in what value customers receive, we do what would be called low volume in quantity of annual sales, we don't argue over issues, we just fix things. I'm used to giving that Raving Fans type product and service. So that's my perspective of view.

I'm one that has had ZERO issues, and the RT is the first bike I've ever owned. So likely I'm not a good cross section, but from my seat, for all that I get, the value is strong. I tend to buy on what I want, after researching, and look at price last. Again, I'm not a good judge.

I guess I tend to look at things from the manufacturer's POV since I manufacture software I guess. That may make me a bad buyer. I want companies I buy from to make money, especially those in which I own stock (none in BRP, btw)!

Thanks for the education. Oh... on the chrome, I agree that it is high. And what I added to the exhaust was metal, but expensive. But I love the look and it was worth it to me.

It's not really a question of whether I can afford it. We just spend near 30K on the new bike. It's more on principle that I won't buy it. It just seems ridiculously priced to me for a pretty looking box on wheels and though I won't rule out ever getting one, it just rubs me that it goes for that much. I think it's an outstanding piece but the price? OUCH....lol :yikes:

Kudo's to those that went ahead and got one.

:agree: The price is :yikes::yikes: but I still like them and still might get one some day:popcorn::popcorn:

Black RT 622 package deal

I scored today - trailer, hitch kit, installation, plus a temp plate to get it home. Package deal. Persistence paid off.
