• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I got the new Magic Mirror Magnest Wahooooooooo!!!

I tried to order a set for my 2015 RTS. At the end it wanted Pay -Pal. I don't have an account. Does anyone know a way around it?

Normally when you get to the Paypal screen you can just pay with a credit card. Russ apparently has his setup a bit different. When you get to the Paypal screen say Create Account then you can pay with a credit card but it looks like it will also create an account for you. I'd suggest Russ look into the option where people can just pay by CC on the first Paypal screen you get to without having to create an account. Not a bad idea to have an account though anyway.

You don't need a PayPal account to pay via PayPal. Just select the option that you don't have an account and enter credit card information like you would at any site.

With twelve of those magnets in your hands: it might just rip all of the iron right out of your blood... :yikes:

Has anybody else wondered if these magnets might just stop a pacemaker in it's tracks? :dontknow:

Bob, way back early in the testing process, I spoke to the local pacemaker mob here, & they looked at/played with the magnets for a few seconds & then commented that because magnets CAN effect pacemaker operation that anyone fitted with a pacemaker should do exactly what they've been advised to do with regard to rare-earth/hi-strength magnets & electro-magnetic sources by their pacemaker supplier.... :dontknow:

Exactly what that is or may be can apparently vary from supplier to supplier/product to product, but basically you don't want to put the magnets into your shirt pocket over the pacemaker implant site, same as for any similar magnet!! Similarly, don't let those magnets get too close to your pacemaker while they are not connected to the Spyder, then once they are connected/installed onto your Spyder, you still shouldn't let your pacemaker get within about 2 feet or so, but as far as I could determine, ryding on a Spyder fitted with them should be fine. Still, your particular pacemaker may vary, so I'd still suggest that you don't ever cuddle up against your mirrors or put your pacemaker on top of the mirrors.

But if you do have a pacemaker & are thinking of buying these Mirror Magics, I'd still think the best advice anyone could give you would be to recommend that you specifically ask your medical advisor or the pacemaker's manufacturer for their guidance!!

About 30% of my question was in jest... :D
But you answered the serious part very well also! Thanks!:thumbup:
(My Mom and Dad both have pacemakers...)

Oddly enough, when I visited them the pacemaker bods seemed to be waaay more concerned about where the 'generator' was located on the Spyder & when I explained about the magneto/alternator & the different models, they mentioned the potential proximity issues to a Ryder's pacemaker (apparently some pacemakers can be inserted into your abdomen?!?) that those devices may have! And then when they worked out the Spyder RT was wired for sound, they became particularly interested in the music system & where the connection for the iPod was - specifically mentioning MP3 Headsets of any sort (wired or bluetooth) as being of some concern to people with pacemakers, while explaining that most bluetooth stuff isn't of any concern unless the source/transmitting device is in a pocket over your pacemaker. All this interest & concern about other things effecting pacemakers surprised me a bit, I hadn't even thought of any of those things ever being a worry to pacemaker or De-fribulator equipped people & that was especially surprising since they almost flippantly tossed out the bit about treating the Magics as you would any other magnet or electro-magnetic device (does that include welders? generators?) & seeking your particular healthcare &/or device providers advice?!? :dontknow:

MIRROW MAGNETS

:bowdown:I got mine about ago I started playing with them and one broke. Well I figured that's 100.00 ups a hogs ass. I emailed Russ to see if I could buy one he said I could. Told him to send me a bill. He emailed me back the next morning said he would ship that day no charge. To me that is customer service. THANKS RUSS PS DON'T PLAY WITH YOUR MAGNETS.

Broke?? How the heck did ya break it?

Broke?? How the heck did ya break it?

The metal they are made of makes them a little brittle - not fragile by any stretch of the imagnation, but if you let them jump around the place or leap from one hand to the rest of the pack in your other hand, the sudden shock can create cracks that eventually will let them break roughly in half!! And when that happens, the polarity & the strength of the magnets means that there is NO BLOODY WAY you can ever fit the bits back together again!! :gaah:

That's why we've been warning people from the very first NOT to play with them or drop them; not to let them jump around the place or slide them along copper wires to show how far they'll jump; & basically not to let them clank into each other from a distance. Yeah, we all know they are strong magnets & that they WILL jump gaps or slide some inches or more along copper wires into a metal bench, but every time you do that you risk cracking or breaking the magnet, & you really can't count on Russ being kind enough to replace every one of them that gets broken like that free of charge.

So don't play with them, they are meant for a purpose & they'll do that very well, IF you follow the instructions! If you don't follow the handling instructions..... 'breakage' is just one of the risks facing you! I'd hesitate to guess how many people have given themselves blood blisters or actually drawn blood thru not following the installation instructions; but pretty much every one of the 'self installers' at our Spyder Muster who didn't follow the instructions re handling the magnets drew blood one way or another!

I read the instructions, watched the videos, and still got a blood blister trying to separate the magnets, it flipped over and caught my finger, ouchhhhhh! :banghead:

Said screw this and used the 'lever' method, which was in the (third?) video. Much easier for the rest of the install.

I didn't say that following the instructions made getting blood blisters impossible, but it does limit your chances of doing that :dontknow: altho we KNOW the magnets are definitely strong enough to do so - I'm just sorry you got caught! :opps:

But if you DON'T follow the instructions, it's a whole lot more likely that you'll catch a finger, & we KNOW the magnets are definitely strong enough to grab in such a way as to draw blood or leave you with a blood blister!! :gaah:

As you can see from the videos as they develop over time, Russ (& all of us Crash Test Dummies) learnt & developed things as we found out more about them - you should see all the sample magnets Russ has scattered all around his place now!! If anyone was gonna be anaemic because the magnets sucked all the iron outta their blood, it'd be him & Brenda!! There was a time that he left his Spyder in the shed with all the magnets on it; came back later & found it stuck to the inside of the corrugated iron roof!! :yikes: Just kidding, it wasn't that bad - the roof had only bent down closer immediately above the Spyder!! :joke: :roflblack:

But seriously, they are bloody strong magnets, & you do need to exercise a little care while handling them! Regardless, they do an absobloodylutely fantastic job of securing the RT Mirrors, & they do that in such a way that you can readily get the mirrors off & put them back on again without any of the hassles or flopping around that the OE Placcy pellets & pins brought with them!! Enjoy, but handle with care - everyone knows Spiders can bite!

Got an email from Russ today stating my Magic Mirrors were shipped :yes::yes: Glad that I made this shipping batch. Now the wait process :popcorn::popcorn:
