• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I got the new Magic Mirror Magnest Wahooooooooo!!!

Russ told me there were no tracking numbers. To get #'s it cost an additional $30 from Australia.

One member here said he was tracking his and I asked how. He said he had signed up for usps tracking to his house and was therefore tracking it that way. Any package coming to his house was tracked for him. I don't know just how that works. Something you sign up for.
I just looked at all the options available in my USPS account and don't find any such available service. All the tracking option require a # to be input.

I just looked at the post with the tracking info, http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...AGIC-MIRRORS&p=1241386&viewfull=1#post1241386. It was posted on April 1. Makes you wonder if there's a connection there! :roflblack:

Are the mirrors that big of a problem. I seem to have no trouble with my '14 RTS....
Almost every job on a Spyder RT begins with the instruction, "Remove the mirrors!" Removing them isn't a huge problem, or even a big problem, just an irritating problem! :banghead: That is until one of the mounts breaks!

:dontknow:much the same as having to raise the seat to fuel. (not that I do)

It must be a snow machine thing. :roflblack:

If you are saying your Kit has now arrived I am so pleased for you, knowing just how keen you are to fit them
"LET THE MAGIC BEGIN"

:D
:D I am, and I'll be sure to post my glorious misadventures during the installation process!
You have to be aware that I'm the Klutziest person in here... and probably on the North American Continent! nojoke

Still waiting on mine. I suspect even if the screws were not recessed they still would not move, these types of magnets have some real grab strength. Got bike back from dealer once with loose mirror and every time I've pulled them off, I've had to take the steel spring clips out to straighten them back out as they always seem to deform. These should work great and have no problem with repeated on/off.

Edit: Not more than 15 minutes after I said this they 'magically' appeared! Hope to get them in soon.

:D The lady down at my Post Office said that she couldn't pick the box up off the metal shelf...
It was stuck! :roflblack:

Where can I order these. Mine jiggle.

Received them Saturday and installed them Sunday. Took about 20 minutes to install and are they GREAT. Next to the sway bar I think these are the best investment you can spend on your Spyder. Very easy to install and had the wife check one side, with the new magnets, against the old and no comparison. Very good job inventing these. Must have for all Spyders.:clap::clap:

It takes me that long, to peel just one magnet loose from the others! nojoke
Those suckers have some pull to them!

If you have ever taken them off and then reinstalled them, especially after a couple times you would know. :banghead::banghead::banghead::yikes::gaah:

Mission accomplished!
It took me and my clumsiness an hour to complete the job... (That's no knock on the kit!)
It is freaking AWESOME!!! :yes::yes::yes:

Funny you should say that...

We had our Aussie Spyder Muster this last weekend, so the last of the 'Crash Test Dummies' received their Production Kits, & I've only just swapped out the test set & fitted mine. Since there's been all this discussion about tethers & screws & locktite & stuff, just for kicks & giggles I thought I'd do a little more testing in the form of a 'screwless run' - ryding for a bit with ONLY the magnets holding the mirrors on to the body - no screws at all thru the magnets to secure them to the rest of the Spyder!!

Now I'm not actually recommending this in any way or suggesting anyone else should try it :lecturef_smilie: There are very good reasons for having the screws there & without them it's definitely a wee tad harder to locate the mirror in exactly the right spot when you are fitting them in place, & I don't think the mirrors would locate/stay in place anywhere near as well if they were ever hit by anything bigger than a mosquito, but for the purposes of satisfying my curiosity.... :opps:

On a short run around the block, the mirrors behaved exactly as they had with the Testers & their screws in place, so I did a run thru town & onto the Freeway - still all good. There was a bit of a gusty cross wind on the freeway, & a few trucks creating turbulence, but the screwless mirrors handled that OK, so I opted to come back via one of the roughest paved roads in Christendom, they still didn't move at all or even vibrate. Sooo, I took the Spyder & did a fast run thru the twisties in the Hills out to our (fairly local) track & once there, I opened it up a tad.... No real preparation, no safety gear beyond my usual riding garb, just a quick word to the staff, a quicker check of the tire pressures, grab the mirrors & rattle a bit just to make sure they are still fixed firmly, & out onto the track for a few hot laps. I ran the Spyder out to 160kph/100mph a few times, pushed it hard thru the corners, lifted an inside wheel a little every now & then; basically just did a few hi-speed laps!! Thoughout all this, the mirrors didn't move; no vibrations, no rattling, no slipping around; just sat there where they'd been put & the Magics held them firmly in place.... :ohyea: :2thumbs:

All up, it was a great way of clearing the cobwebs on a fairly brisk morning here, and pretty revealing about the mirrors, but like I said, not something I'd recommend for general use! The screws securing the magnets are there for a purpose - they help locate the mirror in the correct position & stop them from moving on the mount points during use, as well as making it a whole lot easier to put the mirrors on & take them off; but it is good to know that even without the screws (& locktite! ) your mirrors will still be held firmly by the magnets alone!

Installed mine today, install was easy and quick.:2thumbs: Did one side at a time and the magic mirror side had noticeable less movement then the BRP side. I stress tested them after they were on and honestly think the magnets are stronger then the brp top clip is. Got a real good look at the top plastic brp clip and it is very thin in the v part of the mold. Very happy with the upgrade and actually look forward to removing my mirrors from now on!

Thank you Russ!

:congrats:
How did you get the magnets separated from one another?
I ended-up putting the stack of them up against a solid surface, and fighting with the top one (Left hanging out into open space...) :D

Once I had all six packs built: I picked them up into one large "magnetic pile", to carry them down to the bike...
Even with having bolts mixed in for some extra grip: it was... interesting!
I have no strength left in my hands at all anymore... :banghead:
