I am about to replace my cat with an RLS cat delete that is ceramic coated. While researching this project, I've seen a lot of talk about heat control and abatement, including wrapping exhaust headers and pipes.
I'm not good enough to get deep into the engine, but it appears that I could fairly easily remove the pipe coming from the header right below the stock heat shield, running under the bike to the primary muffler, and wrap it. At least I see the clamps on each end, and can get to them.
So I think I could remove and wrap this pipe "fairly easily"... unless I missed seeing a bracket or hanger somewhere. I would wrap it from just end to end, stopping just inside both clamp flares.
But... will this be worth it? I see the existing heat shield , which I assume comes down from the exhaust header itself, and dumps a lot of heat out the bottom of into the chamber pictured, and I'm not sure this will mitigate any of that.
Thoughts and advice?
