• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

This happened to a friends '12 RT SE and these were the symptoms. See if you can guess what caused it. Answer will be provided tomorrow.

The one year old RT SE wouldn't downshift by itself at all. The only way was to manually downshift and when it came to a stop in 1st gear, it idled too low and usually stalled. Either keep a little throttle on it or get it into neutral quickly.

Do you know the answer, :dontknow: Or are you hoping someone will confirm your thoughts on the cause and fix.. :roflblack::joke:.............:shemademe_smilie:

1. Low oil level or

2. HCM malfunction - electrical or hydraulic

Best guess - the poor idle condition and the down shift problem are not related. Because manual shift requirement was indicated for downshifting from 5 to 4, 4 to 3, and 3 to 2.

OK, OK, I can't stand to see a grown men whine!

Several winners here, will have to split the prize; Bruiser is donating his leftover oil from the last change. I hear tell it was some new stuff sold by Dollar Store. :roflblack:

The problem was the VACUUM HOSE had serious dry rot cracks which according to the Tech was cheap stuff to begin with. He replaced it with some Honda hose. Mind you, this was in a one year old '12 RT!!

If only I knew how to replace mine I'd be buying some Honda hose and doing it for piece of mind.

Wow!
Bad in a years time. Whoda thunk? Obviously a few did :roflblack:
We in the desert better start changing them annually. nojoke

Anybody know how to change out the vacuum hose?

The more I think about it, the more I want to change mine as a preventive measue but have looked at the Fiche till I'm crosseyed and can't find where its located. I know its somewhere on the left side as thats where the mechanice pulled the panels off. Its a tiny little hose, no bigger than a pencil and although it was in three pieces, I'd say about the length of a ballpoint pen.

Is this a do-it-yourselfer? If so, where the heck is it located?

Answer will be provided tomorrow. :roflblack: :joke:

I expect a detailed answer, with pics, or better yet, a video. Meanwhile I'll continue work putting in electrical outlets, shelves, and insulation in the 12 X 20 shed I just got to house the RT. Now I'll have a decent place to do maintenance.....when you provide the above mentioned pics!!

Sway to go

First off if it was a vacuum hose that went south in less then a year it was sure cheap hose with very poor quality assurance. An I thought GM was buying cheap hose?

Secondly you don't need Honda hose either. Just go to your local automotive parts store and buy a roll of Gates, or Anco, or Trico brand hose. It should be a couple of layers in wall thickness.

When you start running the new lines try to get as far from the heat as possible!
