• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Grabby Clutch

This is not a complaint just an observation.

The clutches on my new F3(SE6) and my old RT(SE5) are worlds apart technologically speaking.
The meaning of that last sentence is that I understood the mechanical clutch, centrifical clutch on the RT.

The clutch on the F3 with the flux capacitors and warp fields have me shaking my head in amazement.
Something I do know, there were 29 new error codes introduced as a result of the new clutch.

Anyway.
With almost 3K miles on the clock, I have noticed the F3 clutch appears to feel a bit less smooth than the one on my RT.
Coming to a stop and letting the Spyder downshift results in what I have to call less than smooth operation.
Not even remotely ringing the trouble bell but a bit less refined as I would like.

So to all the SE6/1330ers out there have you noticed that?

Let's see....

It's awful quiet our there...you must be alone on this one. I can't help I only deal with manual clutches...:banghead: I would think it would be better but then you can promote things/people to the point of incompetency....:yikes:

Yes, as a beneficiary of being promoted out of trouble I know.

Anyway, it's really minor and it probably is more in my head than anywhere else.

Have you done the 3000 mile first oil change yet? Could be new oil will sort it. Lots of oil threads on here with owners saying how they get smoother shifts after an oil change - some with aftermarket oils like amsoil/mobil 1 etc.

Is the first batch of oil designed to only last 3000 miles and promote wear-in during that time?

Mine seems very smooth at 8.5K, but I don't have any opther spyder experince to compare with. Only automated manual cars, which have all been rubbish!!

I believe that "Jean'Luc" relaxed Nanny's grip on the F-3s; I suppose in order to make it feel more sporting.
Could the more aggressive downshifting, be part of that makeover?

Please explain....

My 2015 F3-S SE6 is amazing. But I have no idea how the SE6 works....would love to hear from you on how it works. I typically downshift (an old 2-wheeler habit), but know what you mean if I allow the Spyder to downshift on its own...it is a bit clunky and speeds up/slows down as it shifts. I still prefer to downshift myself....it makes me think I'm still important!

Your explanation of behavior was better than mine and spot on to what I observe.

As to how it works, I think you misread my comment.
I have absolutely no idea how the se6 clutch works.
