• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. GPS / CB-Intercom ... When?

ynot9771

RT-S PE#0516
I was told that the GPS and CB is still on back order and 'might' be here (Denver) in 2 weeks. We have been waiting for at least a month now.
Anyone else hear different?

Thanks,
Tony

I ordered my GPS and XM radio I want to say sometime around the 18th of January. Perhaps a few days before. I received the GPS first (early February) and the XM radio about a week ago. All are installed and working well. Just get ready for a fairly hefty installation fee. Mine was $400.00.

PS: The installation fee cost so much because of the wiring harnass that the tech did not know was involved.

Dealer Install is Free

My dealer said that he saw here on Spyder Lovers that there were some dealers that were not charging the install fee if you order the extras at the time you order the Spyder.

My dealer said they would honor that.

TicketBait,

I have the CB/Intercom and XM radio on order, Am I going to need this entertainment harness also? I don't think my dealer is aware of that.

Harness is mandatory

After XM and GPS are installed the cable goes between the radio module on the right bag side and hooks up to connectors for the GPS and than has to circle around the bike under the rear section (which must be taken off) to connect to the XM. The harness adds the passenger headset outlet but does not have the driver outlet which seemed strange to me.:dontknow:

But no less strange then the funky gas gauge which drops a quarter of a tank sitting in the garage running and moves up and down slowly and almost never giving you a real reading except when full.:gaah::gaah:

Otherwise I am really enjoying the Spyder and having fun 'farkling" it.:D:D

Just waiting for our favorite Spyder accessory owners to launch some new products. :ohyea::ohyea::yes::yes:

Entertainment Harness...

Thank the great heavens for this extremely informative site. My dealer hasn't a clue about the entertainment harness...NADA... I'm going to need two of the suckers. Kim & I have blasted through 3 estimated delivery dates for our RT's. Mid Jan, Early Feb, Late Feb, and now around Mar 10th. Good thing, it gives us time to hang tight with SL.C to glean all the information that most of our dealers aren't aware of for equiping these, hopefully excellent machines... Len
Yes you will

Hey guys,
I was at the dealer yesterday for my 600 service. I thought I'd pick up my headsets so I could at least have them mounted when the CB and GPS come in. Those are supposed to be here by the end of next week. When I asked about getting the headsets they said that they wouldn't have them until early May!!! Sure doesn't sound like they had this figured out does it? I'm pretty sure we're going to the Texas Trike Ride in the Hill Country mid April so it looks like we still won't have on-bike communication for that. Oh well, I didn't have to wait as long as I thought I would for the RT, so I guess they are making up for it in not having the accessories.:D

Dwight, there are other manufacturers of headsets that have them ready to ship now. J&M & EdSets, to name a couple. I have EdSets in my old helmets & ordered the J&M for our new ones because I installed the J&M CB on my wife's '08 GS. I wanted matching headsets, so I got the same for my new helmet, just with a different cord.

I talked to Edsets today and he does not have a set for the new Spyder. He needs a Spyder near Dayton, Ohio for a few hours to test.

Part # 219400201

Price: $109.99 (MSRP USA)
I gave the part number to my parts guy at the dealer and he called BRP to see if we needed that harness for our CB/Intercom. He said they told him not, it was all included. But I don't think he caught on that this harness goes interior. He was talking about the cords from the helmet to the plug. I think I'll call BRP myself.

Just called the dealer after re-reading the BRP page.....
The Entertainment Harness Kit (219400201) and the AM/FM Integrated Audio System (219400146) are required for installation
Well, I've got the RT-S so I don't need the AM/FM, but I DO need the Entertainment Harness. As I told the parts guy. So now, he's going to check with BRP to see if I need it. I'm half tempted just to order it myself so I'll be able to give it to them when they start scratching their heads!

CB communication system

wired head set for helmet

Someone said It comes with a wiring harness included for the driver, but if you want one for the
passenger, you need to order this. part # 219400201
which also integrates with the XM,

but then I read this and not sure if it already comes for driver, and you are getting just for
passanger. Me thinks you need it no matter what.

I am still waiting on the CB. What are people using to connect headsets to the RTS? Specific part numbers and manufacturers would be appreciated.
Thank you
