Is that 5500 miles or kilometers? Maybe we need to use dual units 10,000 miles 16,000 kilometers? :doorag:

That would be miles :doorag: I'm in East TN.

I agree. Please thank them for the sacrifices they make on our behalf.

ALASKA TRIP

I am planning on riding from Iowa to Alaska in July-August. I plan on going up through Banff-Jasper and then return on the Alaska Marine Highway from Haines to Prince Rupert, B.C.

I am going to need to buy a good windshield, saddle bags and trailer hitch before I go, so I really enjoy all the products being discussed on the forum.

Has anybody got enough miles to estimate if I will need new tires before 10,000 miles? I know I will have to have the Spyder services in Canada and want to check if they stock new tires.

JUST WONDERED IF YOU EVER WENT TO ALASKA?

Alaska trip 2008

I rode my Spyder to Alaska and back in 4.5 weeks. The first day I rode 1025 miles from Davenport, Iowa to Watford City, ND.
I have a touring windshield with a Laminar Lip, GIVI side bags, and a luggage rack for a T-bag bolted to the Industries 7 PLX mounting frame. I did not pull a trailer so have not added a hitch.

I had the Spyder serviced in Washilla, AK and visited dealers in Calgary, Canada and Fairbanks and Eagle River in Alaska. I replaced the rear tire in Lacey Washington after 12,000 miles and it was down past the wear bars. It hydro-planed BAD in the rain.

I am planaing a ride to Sturgis rally this year and maybe the Smokies in September. :doorag:

We have ridden from Fla to the smokies and had a great time. We also have ridden to South Fla. We are planning a trip to Louisiana for Memorial day weekend if things go as planned. We were planning to ride to Sturgis and Yellowstone in August but it doesn't look like we can pull that one off this year... maybe next year. We do plan on going back to the smokies in october tho...

I have 5500 and my rear is alot closer to the wear bars than I thought it should be. I don't think I'm going to get 10K out of my rear, not sure on the fronts.

I thought just a month or so ago you replaced your rear tire with the Auto Tire.
Does that mean you are not getting the mileage from the auto tire as you did the BRP tire?

Curious mind would like to know.

Oregon Trail ryde

My wife and I are planning on following the Oregon Trail this summer when I take some leave. It's about 2000 miles one way. I have the route planned with stops along the way to see the landmarks and sites. We are not sure about the route back to Lincoln, Nebraska from the trail's end in Oregon City, Oregon, yet. We might be short on time and have to hit Interstate 80 and pound down for home. We'll do some camping, some bed and breakfasts, and some motels (with hot tubs for the sore muscles).
It should be an adventure but that is what life is about.

I plan to visit all of the mission in California on one trip. The missionaries did it on burros so I should be okay.

I intend to trailer my bike to Louisiana and then travel the gulf coast out to Key West and then up the Eastern seaboard to who knows where, probably Penn, then back to Louisiana and truck it back to California.

I love riding but the distances out west are pretty long so I thought I would trailer it and see how that goes.

I guess mine will be later in the year. Wife will be home from Kansas City, MO in about 4-5 months. Then it will be 900 mile round trip Pensacola to Ormond Beach -- fit the :spyder2: out for touring -- seat, trunk box, and saddle bags. Happy Birthday and Christmas all in one. Thought about planning it around Biketoberfest.

Well, I'm starting out June 1 for a cross-country via US 50 from Sacramento to Ocean City, MD, ( with short detour to Denver) then visiting friends in Baltimore, PA(York, Northeast PA, Pittsburgh), NY and western MA, then back out via Rt 66.

Before then I'll be doing a few overnights -- one scheduled for May to Mono Lake, and next week we're going down to Columbia, CA., another to Reno..

I'd spend all summer on this thing if my wife would let me..!

I know a lot of us do day trips but do you have any overnighters planned for you and the Spyder?

Hubby ('08 Goldwing) and I ('08 Spyder) are riding the entire Blue Ridge Parkway either week before Memorial Day or week of. Starting at southern tip and riding north, then on to Gettysburg and wherever else we might decide after that point.

Also joining in the Goldwing group heading up a rally out of Bryson City, NC, in mid-June as a replacement for this year's Honda Hoot which is not happening.

the wife and me are planning to go see a real good friend and family that lives in Mosheim Tn.:D maybe this time we want have to leave in a hurry:yikes:

300 + mile spring ryde in a loop around southern Indiana, no date set yet, couple of trips to Michigan to see my kids and take my wife some flowers, then to Asheville, North Carolina Memorial Day weekend, beyond that, I'll play it as it comes.

I'll be making a 2000 mile round trip from Tucson to northern Colorado to run the Steamboat Springs Marathon June 7. Am planning to spend a week up there to acclimate to the altitude bit, and do some exploring. Hope to get those lowered ISCI rider footpeg brackets that are in the works before the trip! Wish I could do the seat, too, but just too much $$.:yikes:
