There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. In December, I took Nancy's 2008 Spyder to the dealer in my trailer, to have the steering recall and the engine performance update done. I never got a chance to test when we brought it home, merely fishtailing across the ice and snow to tuck it in the shed for the winter. Today I got it out of mothballs, and went out and rode 40+ miles, to give it all a test. Excellent results! The steering is maybe a little easier than before at low speeds, but is tight, precise, and even without that little "twitch" idling at a stop, that it had before. The engine runs every bit as strong as before, and seemingly stronger. Maybe the gas mileage will even improve, at long last. No sign of surging or any bad behavior. So far, so good!

The best part is that the variable idle, sometimes as high as 3,500 rpm, and seldom below 1,800 rpm unless completely stopped (???) seems to be gone, too. Before, the idle would hang when you backed off the throttle and pulled in the clutch. It did not idle down until you stopped moving, and sometimes not even then. Now it returns to idle immediately. This has been going on for the better part of two years, so as you can imagine, I am quite pleased. I love to receive an unexpected bonus!

Good to hear, Scotty! I've been lurking around here just reading a lot and not posting, and it seems things have begun to slowly skid downward pertaining to the new RT. The post you made about YOUR RT caused me to take a huge step back from even wanting to purchase one. Just too scary for me! You are one of the most knowledgeable and honest people on this board (other than Lamont!), and your words and feelings hold a whole lot of weight.

I am very happy, though, that your '08 Spyder has been fixed and you are enjoying it again. This vehicle is just too cool, and I hope they get all of these problems resolved by the time I have the money to get one. nojoke

That is good news . . . .

. . . and glad you got out for a little ride.

I didn't have the idle issues you had, but I am really noticing that I have fewer stops on trips that required a re-fill on them are now fine on a full tank.

I have been a little lazy about entering my purchases and mileage since I got the last update and new DPS, but several rough calculations at the pump are consistently indicating something just under 40 MPG!

I had not heard about an engine performance update until now. I'm picking mine up from the dealer on Saturday. I will ask about it.

Also popularly known as the "second update". It actually is more, and includes extending and rerouting the purge valve vent hose. It was issued to address surging problems some owners had after the steering recall ("first update").

Glad to hear at least one of your Spyders is running well, and the update took without DPS issues. I am still on the fence about that second update.

Derwin or Scotty,

Can you link the post Derwin is referring to? I must have missed it.

Scotty,
Glad to hear everything seems to be fine with Nancy's Spyder, but what is going on with your RT is terrible news. I don't read the RT forum, I had no idea you were having such issues. I have always been a BRP supporter because of my many years of ownership of ski-doo snowmobiles (great sleds). I have never owned a PWC or 4 wheeler so I haven't any experience with other types of BRP products until now. After reading about your dilemma and what others have gone through it does shake my confidence a little in this company.
Just remember the old saying: the squeaky wheel gets the grease (or something to that effect). Do not settle for anything less than complete satisfaction. If you want to install a sway bar or upgrade your shocks that is your choice. You should not have to repair/replace gauges, paint, etc. at your expense,:wrong:

Scotty, That's great news about Nancy's Spyder and for this ex-CT resident and now a Floridian, I'm really Happy to hear that you were able to get out on the road for 40+ miles, after a long hard winter.

I now hope that you can get your new RT the way you want it, so you and Nancy can enjoy the up coming season together.:2thumbs:

I don't read much from the RT boards and only recently saw in your signature, that you are a Disappointed New RT owner.
