• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got out my new cold weather gear today and took a ride for about an hour in low 40s temps. The thermal suit is made by FirstGear and is heavily padded and fully rainproof. It was about half the price of the suits that include armor.

This was the first real test and I have to say the suit is incredible. I never felt any cold air at all and the suit is so well padded that armor shouldnt be an issue.

You wouldnt want to wear this suit inside, or on a warm day, but for cold weather it is very effective! and at $160. (delivered) is about half the price of the suits with armor.

So, anybody ready for Alaska ?
 
I have been considering the suit. What size did you get and what do you wear underneath?

And no offense but padding is not armor and the suits nylon has pretty low abrasion protection.

I have had the Thermosuit for the past two winters and it has been fantastic. I just wear my regular work or casual clothes underneath, nothing extra. I have ridden in below zero temps many a day and if you factor in windchill and speed, even colder. The suit has not let me down so far. It does run long in the legs regardless of size so if you are tall, this is great for you. As I am only 5'6" I have some bunching in the legs but it doesn't bother me. I like that both legs zip all the way up and it is easy on, easy off even with my boots on. I wear it to work in the winter and of course everyone thinks I am crazy but I have not been cold in it. No it does not have body armor but I don't let that stop me from riding. You could always get one of those body armor t-shirts or knee draggin jeans if you felt the need for the armor under this suit, then you would have the protection and the warmth.

I am 5'8", 190lbs and bought the Large in case I wore much under it, but it has plenty of room and a Med would probably fit better. Since you really dont need to wear much under it, the smaller size may be ok. Even with extra room it fits good as it has zips and straps to take up the slack.

The SpyderLovers offer for this suit at $149. shipped is a real deal! The best I could find was $159.

Talk about having to unplug a comm system... Wow, this would really grab ya! I hope they are leakproof. That warm wet feeling could be very disturbing. :roflblack:
 
I tried the Tourmaster suit. It is an amazing piece for the price. Great and stylish fit for a one piece. Disappointed in the hip armor being a little foam pad but you could wear Bohn Armor and have the best of all worlds.

Though I had a devil of a time getting it off. I almost panicked and thought I am stuck in this and was going to make an embarrassing call to a friend to help me. Then I learned the hop hop dance and got it off. lol
 
And Thermoflash looks very cool ( or very hot maybe ) if it works. I have a Veskimo I wear in super hot weather.

That's too hardcore for down in the south, a good ole pair of thermal undies will do fine.:joke: That does look like a nice getup, certainly enjoy the ride more when you are comfortable.

I can see one of these in my new year, But first I have to make sure the Polar Tex gloves and CL MAX helmet with belacava are up to the task first!!:yikes:
It is less than desirable (Sucks) to sit inside on a Beautiful Sunny afternoon when its 35-40 degrees outside!!!nojoke

These are well designed. I can't see how running a snow blower would do any damage to them or cause them to wear out (unless you plan to run the blower over them! :yikes:).

These are flexable and comfortable. You can never trust what a salesman says, but I think they would be great! :thumbup:
