• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Garmin 590lm Rubber Cover

So my 2015 RT Limited came with this nice rubber exterior cover for the Garmin 590lm mount when the GPS is not attached. I added a mount for the 590lm to my Yamaha Royal Star Venture and for the life of me I can not find a place to purchase that rubber cover! Any suggestions? I am not looking for plastic insert, but looking for the flexible rubber cover that goes over the whole mount. Thanks, Dan

That rubber cover is a BRP item. You could likely buy one from them. I tossed mine in the garbage a long time ago. The Garmin Weather Cap is far better and actually seals the water out of the cradle mount.

brp item

Also cannot find it anywhere on BRP sites either. I figure two covers better than one when it comes to rain. Thanks

Here it is.

The part # above is for the Zumo 660 used before 2015 and on the 2016.

The correct one for the 590 is:

710004254 - GPS Protector Support

I also lost mine and ordered the above part #, it is too small to fit on the 590 cradle.

Do you have an item # for the Garmin weather cap for the 590 ?
Disregard !! Found it. Part # 010-12110-04 ... $9.99 on the Garmin site. On Amazon -- $29.95 !!

I been riding with Garmin for 30 years with only the plastic insert in place when the unit is not on. I had never seen that rubber cover till I got my 2011 rt.
If you really need one I will dig mine out of the draw and send it to you.
Pm me with your Address and its on its way

That reminds me - does the stock cover have any tendency to blow off and get lost? Seems like kind of a loose fit.

The rare time I ride mine without the GPS mounted I have not noticed any tendency for it to move in the wind.

I normally only use it when I am parked without a cover or when I am washing the Spyder. Using just the Garmin cover I have seen some moisture on the contacts.

That's reassuring! I felt a bit uneasy about it. Tried putting a baggie over it once but THAT blew off.

I agree with Billy. Before I bought my Kradellock the rubber cover was fine but it looked kind of cheesy stretched over the top of the Kradellock so I dug the plastic cap out of the box and switched to it. Looks much better than the rubber boot too IMO. Oh, BTW, I found absolutely no chance of the rubber boot blowing off.
