First extended warranty purchased paying off well

I have never bought anything with extended warranty before till I got my spyder and it has paid off big time. I was not going to get it as usual but sales manager pitched it like his life depended on it and with discounted cost at $800 for 2 years for 3rd party extended warranty, I gave in after 20 minutes. I could have gotten best coverage for little more but I didn't look into it as spyder was a spontaneous purchase. I went in to look at a honda cbr but when I saw spyder, I knew I had to have it.

Anywho, it will cover the complete engine rebuild at cost of $4000.
Now the long wait begins again...

What warranty did you purchase? I was at my dealer today and inquired about the Best Warranty (bought my RT used from a private party) The Best warranty is pretty high with the $75/year penalty for not having purchased it within 6 months. He offered me a 3rd party 72 month at $950 I think he called it Extra from Progressive. He said it is good at any dealer and in addition to an extra year of coverage it has lower deductible than the Best.

I'm glad yours is paying off for you and I hope you get the repairs completed quickly.

I think it's company based in west coast. Western contract service, zero deductible but a adjuster will come out for inspection for big repair like mine. I spoke with service writers at different dealers when my brp warranty was about to expire and all had positive feedbacks. I would probably go with best plus next time when and if.

I would still shy away from third party warranties and stick with the BEST.

Fire, I'm with you...there are a few threads here about 3rd party warranties and the NIGHTMARES when something serious goes wrong. I'd go BEST or nothing...trying to save a few dollars on something that might end up costing you thousands down the road doesn't make much sense to me...

Oh well, to each their own, I suppose...guess we'll have another thread when something doesn't work out well...

I wish you well too.

It would seem that this 3rd party warranty worked out pretty good.

Western service contract had good reputation and I had 2 claims as soon as it kicked in and no problem with neither but I think there was a member here that got his claim denied by western. I can't remember what it was but I think it was much smaller than mine and aftermarket mod was involved, but not sure.

When I bought my spyder, I was not familiar with brp and was not even aware of BEST. Compared to what bert's is offering for best, western's coverage was not a bargain neither.

Brp seemed to be pretty loose with warranty coverage and even covered couple of things not under warranty too. May be my spyder having so much problems played a roll in it also. If best coverage is same as their regular 2 year warranty and at price bert's is offering I would go with best over western.

I have no experience with progressive program so can't comment on that. Do some research online.

I had Western Service and they denied coverage of my sprocket when it went out. It was approx $2400 to have it replaced.

I got an extended BEST Warrant from Town & Country for 2 additional years bring my total coverage to 5 years...cost...$639..Worth every penny for the peace of mind.

I too purchased the Best extended as soon as the factory warranty came close to expiring. They have covered numerous oil leaks(same leak multiple times) and 2 or 3 front sprockets (I lost count). When they replaced the last sprocket they also replaced the transmission output shaft, belt and rear sprocket. After getting it back from the dealer the last time I hadn't even gone through a tank of gas yet when the dps module decided to quit working which they replaced for $43.

My bike has been down more than it's been up this year so I've missed all of spring and summer so it's been very disheartening and frustrating to say the least. I can't even imagine how I'd feel about now if I had to come out of pocket for any of this. The BEST purchase has worked out for me.
