• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Finally the end of my rant

Perhaps you can now change your handle to something less offensive now that things worked out and your now a happy rider. Glad BRP done the right thing and now you can enjoy your ride.

What would you suggest: "Well Heck"? :D
You DO realize that there's a (slim) chance, that it is actually his name?

I think its a good idea to list the incompetent dealers on here.... it might save a lot of headaches for other spyder owners... by the way... glad your spyder was taken care of..

That's a tricky thing to do. It can give one unjustifiably upset (or simply manipulative) customer far too much power to damage the reputation of a good company. I'm a small business owner, and have found that people can have a "negative" experience simply because they changed their mind about a purchase down the line and expected me to absorb the cost.

As things stand, the situation can also be abused, but a thread allows for multiple points of view and a discussion. I don't know is this is the policy here, but I've also always felt that any time a business or person is criticized on a forum, they ought to be informed and have the option to respond.

Today, it is so very easy to damage a business, and in some cases to do so from behind an anonymous screen name that has no relation to you.

When I found myself with a broken down Spyder in another city, I found that I was able to post here and get some very quick recommendations of where to take my Spyder, and it was also easy to ask the group about a particular dealer to get a set of experiences. It takes a little bit more work and proactivity, but the information is available here if you ask for it.

Ok, I promised that I would report back on the resolution of the shoddy work done by a dealer here in San Diego. First of the dealer that caused all of this is Fun Bike Center. I only mention them to hopefully save a future buyer the grief of having their Spyder messed up as bad as ours was. We have been without our bike for almost 8 weeks total now going back to second week of August. As you may remember it started with the 13 K maintenance, leading to a huge oil leak. Well I had enough after two attempts to let them correct the issue. I then took it to Escondido Cycle Center. After they had it for a couple of days they started telling me that not only was it not serviced right, there were multiple fasteners and clamps missing under the Tupperware. I called and emailed BRP about this and complained about the first dealer. Now let me say that Herm the mechanic, Jimmy the service manager, and Matt the GM were all terrific. They explained everything that was going on and what was needed. When ever I called one of them was available to talk to. Herm told me that the service register in the computer had never been reset and the codes had never been cleared. Now we have owned this since July of 2013 and the first dealer has been our only service provider. Well with it all said and done my discussions with BRP and Escondido Cycle speaking with BRP, BRP agreed to cover the cost of repairs totaling close to $1300.00. So with that said if you ever need work done in So Cal, take it to these guys and you will be treated right. I want to extend a huge atta boy to BRP for making this right! Oh By the way one of the clamps that was missing was on the fuel line coming from the fuel tank! Can you say rolling bomb! ESCONDIDO CYCLE CENTER ROCKS!

This idea ran around the site a few year's ago and the consensus then (and it should be now) that this is a bad idea.

Usually (not always) there are three sides to every story. The customers, the dealers and the truth. By tarring a dealer based on only one side of a story you are not being fair.

If someone posts about a problem with a dealer in a certain area, I have no quarrel with using a Private Message to that person asking for the name of the dealer, so that you can follow up on your own. To just blanket the internet (you do know that everything that is posted here ultimately goes everywhere on the internet) bad mounting a dealer is just not right.

I must confess, I have done this myself and quickly thereafter took down the post.

In this instance it sounds very legitimate that Fun Bike Center is one to be wary of.... but let's not get carried away.

Good dealers are indeed hard to find.
Regardless of how many posts there are about incompetent dealers, BRP must not be listening, or not willing to understand that this singular fact is costing them money in the long run. Why BRP turns a blind eye and a deaf ear to this issue is beyond comprehension.
