I have the SENA SMH-10 system and was wondering if I buy an Ipod to stream through the Bluetooth, does the music automatically fade out when using the intercom? Also, is the dongle only necessary to listen to the radio through the headset?
Yup. If memory serves correct, the priority on the SENA units is phone call/intercom/music in that order. So if you're listening to music and you either receive a phone call or your passenger initiates an intercom connection, your music will stop. Once your call ends or the intercom session is ended, the music comes right back on.
With regard to the radio, unfortunately, yes, you need the dongle, which is a rip off. You need the BRP proprietary cable and they won't sell the cable separately from the kit, so you can't take advantage of getting a lower price on the SENA transmitter on the open market. I'm also told the installation is a bit painful, because you have to take a lot of tupperware off to properly route the cable. I just gave up on the radio and pretty much just listen to music from my iPhone. I haven't tried streaming Pandora yet, but I can't imagine that not working.
Hope this helps,
