• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just got the bike out of the shop - nice ride home. Shop replaced the DESS Module. This makes the 4th module in the bike! I have no faith in the bike - and warranty period close to ending.

I would think that since they have documentation that there is a problem, they would cover any issues with this in the future.

The odds of getting four bad modules in a row would seem to be long. Is the dealer doing the fix right?

:agree:
Perhaps you might want to PM Mike (BLUEKNIGHT911), and see what his experience has been...
He and Dee have the latest part numbers, and have been through this already.

I have a Thread titled" D.E.S.S. KEY CODE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that I started on 8/13/15, 26 pages long with some Excellent information to take to your Can-Am Dealership.

I have had the dess module replaced twice( July 14,2015, & Aug. 28th, 2015 and had the Switch replaced once, it was under warranty). Deanna

Dealer

Dealer is under the direction of factory folks --- they are the ones that said to change the module. Dealer also said not to be worried about end of warranty on this issue - per factory.

Have they replaced the ignition switch also, or just the DESS module.

The ignition switch has the coil wrapped around it the energizes the key and collects the data from the key, sending on to the computer for a start or failed start.

DESS MODULE

Don,
The part number used is 710004916

Thanks

Don, to the best of my knowledge the above part # is the last one I have heard of that is being used .... I have it in my 2014 for about 10,000 miles and so far no more Dess failures ....... good luck...... Mike

Mike and Dee have both listed the latest (and hopefully, the best!) part number.
Bob, I started the DESS KEY CODE AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! Thread, with the part # that my dealership installed( under warranty) and they also replaced switch( under warranty). Dess module part # that I have is 710004190, and it has 1 year and 5 months since I have the dess error. Read post # 5 & 6 on this thread that I posted. Deanna

As stated in the MAIN DESS module thread, BOTH the ignition switch and module need to be replaced!
