Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

Thanks for the pics Dave.......Thats a good looking guy and dog in the pictures.........:ohyea:......Glad you guys had a good time

It's ok..........I had to work the DNC, even thought they have been long hard hours it's been fun, a chance of a lifetime and the $$$$$$$ will be good:p.

Frustrated with work........ But thats nothing new - LOL

Finally got the dang Laser running like it should, so now its play catch-up time, meaning I'll have to work tomorrow:barf: instead of Teddy & I heading for Lamonts:banghead:

Don't get me wrong here, I'm grateful to have a good job, just wish I hadn't come back so soon from Back Surgery and then having to burn most of my Paid Personal Days, then this wouldn't be an issue. At least my boss is flexible:bowdown: and I can take Friday off with no problem, so we'll be leaving sometime on Thursday after I get off work and hopefully some sleep, otherwise we'll sleep at a rest-area (in Teddy's camper) along the way when I get too tired to ryde:shocked::coffee:

:yes::clap:Teddy & I are look'n forward to see'n everyone there on Friday & Saturday:clap: :yes:

What a weird dream ..............

Been so tired, and fell asleep on the couch with Teddy and woke up to Bill Clinton yelling at me to vote for O bama from the DNC on tv. Shut the tv off and Teddy & I went to bed for a couple of hours. But I musta been dreaming, cause in walks (to my bedroom) some lady and soon follows Bill and they both end up in my closet -*-*- WTF -*-*- HUH!!! Yeah, not a dream I want to have again !!!

Hopefully will be able to get outta here (work) around 11am, get home and get the oil changed on Teds Red Sled, pack up everything, and then get some sleep (Hopefully no Bill this time) and thinking we'll head out around midnight or so, depending on the weather and be on our way to Lamonts for the Ryde day on Friday and then the Bar-B-Q on Saturday :2excited::yes:

'Hudini' must be slipping ................

I thought for sure that Teddy would have been able to get out of the bedroom soon after I left for work yesterday, but to my surprise, when I got home, he was still up there with the door closed. I'm guessing he still gave it one heckuva attempt tho, cause he seemed rather tired and wore out, not barking or jumping against his door when I entered the entry door. And he didn't bark or make a peep until I finally made my way up to him, and opened his door, then he was jumping around and happy to see me. I heard him start banging against it right away this morning, even before I was out the door myself, so we'll see if he manages to 'escape' again today. At least we'll be gone for a couple of days on a Spyder Road-trip to Lamonts and he won't have to worry about it. SO EXCITED!!! IS IT 11am YET?!?!?!?!

Did you lock your closet

Did you ever think it might be Bill, Hillary, Monica or one of the others coming out of the closet to let Teddy out?:yikes::yikes::yikes:

Oh NO you didn't !!! Dang it, the closet doesn't have a lock on the door ....

Did you ever think it might be Bill, Hillary, Monica or one of the others coming out of the closet to let Teddy out?:yikes::yikes::yikes:

:wrong: Thanks for plant'n that seed in my head :barf: That's just what I needed to be thinking about now everytime I go to leave the Tedster at the house:lecturef_smilie::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

One Helluvan Epic Day.... doubtful to EVER be matched

A truly EPIC day of Spyder Ryding

Left Cincy at 4am & Teddy & I rode straight thru for the next 5 hours with no time to stop & drop the camper off at Lamonts, so we just headed straight to the meeting site where the ryde was leaving from, getting there with 2 minutes to spare

It was so cool to see you and Teddy on the Lamonts video cam (about 6:45 pm).:clap::thumbup:

Figuratively, any task of great magnitude may be called “epic,” as an “epic journey”

The Lamonster Bar-B-Q was truly an "Epic Adventure" for Teddy and I, to say the least and Here's our story.

I had to work on Thursday, so we missed the 'tech' day, which I sorely wanted to attend, as there's much I'd like to learn about Teds Red Sled. I worked and the came home and took care of 'The Tedster' and his pet chinchilla 'Louie' then we laid down to take a nap before heading out on our (what was to become) an 'Epic' journey, one which can never be lived the same, at least not for us. Kind of like 'you can only be a virgin once' and once that innocence is lost, it can NEVER be regained.

I was thinking we would leave about midnight, and from the information from our GPS, it said it should take us about 5 hours with counting for fuel stops & of course, limited 'Teddy Time' and I say limited, cause I've learned that when I grow my beard out, and we travel at night, we don't get mobbed as much as usual -LOL
attachment.php

We actually slept a little longer than I had thought, and after changing out some lights that needed changing on Teds Red Sled, we actually didn't get on the road to Lamonts til 4am on Friday morning. But we set out, with camper loaded and in high spirits, but worried about making it to Lamonts in time to drop off the camper and then make the meeting point in time for the police escorted 'Ryde Day' that was the main event for the day. Along our route, I kept checking the GPS for estimated time of arrival and tried my best to 'make up' any needed time so that we wouldn't be late. (you know how we had to manage that-lol) And that proved to be a little bit scary, as I had accidently destroyed the Teddy-Cam and the new Rear View Camera System by replacing a blown fuse with one too large and ended up frying the entire LCD system -UGH!!!- so I just removed the entire system since it was now dead, and useless. But without it, especially the Rear-View Camera part, I can't see anything or anyone (uh hummm..... like cops) that are directly behind us unless they go left or right of center. And wouldn't you know it, when we were doing like 78 in a 70 mph zone, yeah, we had a cop following us for at least 5 miles, that I had no clue was back there, but he never pulled us over and actually sped around us doing 80 or so (whew!!!)

Ok guys & gals, sorry, but I'll have to continue this 'Epic' Adventure tomorrow once I get to work and get things settled there. Gotta get some sleep and take care of a flat tire on Teds Red Sled. Let me just say here, if you believe in God or not, he was with us on this journey or we wouldn't be alive right now, for me to share this tale with you now, so
TBC....... (don't you just hate cliff hangers)

Lamonsters Bar-B-Q 2012 Part II

Last year (2011) when we went to Lamonts Bar-B-Q it was only for one day, the day before the Maggie Valley BRP Owners Event and when we went down, we had taken a different more leisurely route than the most direct route that we had taken this time. I was astonished when we came to the actual Cumberland Gap (el. 1,600 ft (490 m)) is a pass through the Cumberland Mountains region of the Appalachian Mountains, also known as the Cumberland Water Gap, at the junction of the U.S. states of Tennessee, Kentucky, and Virginia.) always hearing about it but this was our first time to actually 'Experience' it. I had no clue that it was an actual tunnel thru a mountain that we entered on the Kentucky side and once we emerged on the other side, we came to find ourselves in the great state of Tennessee.

We hit TN right around dawn, and the fog banks were so thick, we had no choice but to slow down, as seeing 10 feet in front of us was difficult even. This was our 1st encounter with a TN cop being right behind us for upteen miles without me knowing about it, and am thankful that we had slowed down (due to the fog) or that may well have ended our trip right there.

So thru the fog we made our way, continually checking the GPS to see how far we were from our destination, and making our fuel stops as quickly as possible, without being rude to onlookers. We finally found ourselves at 8:50am about 10 miles from Lamonts home, but we were on dead empty with the last bar on the digital fuel gauge gone, so we had no choice but to stop for gas. This is where I decided we didn't have enough time to make it to Lamonts to drop off the camper AND still make the meeting spot for the group ryde, so I decided to call Lamont to find out just where the meeting spot was. I had remembered reading is his post about meeting at 9am & 'kickstands up' at 9:15 and not being able to wait, cause we actually had a police escort out of town, UGH!!! What could we do. So I called and asked him where the meeting spot was, and he told me and that they were about to leave in a few minutes, so I best hurry if I wanted to make it, but I was clueless as to where the BP/Wendys on Rt. 70 was, so I just thanked him and said we'd be on our way.

I saw that a local had pulled up & figured I'd ask him, and he'd surely know and be able to tell me- UGH!!! WRONG!!! "Well, I'm in road construction and I know all these roads, but can't say where that is." Oh hell!!! "Thats ok, I'll try plugging it into the GPS & see if I can find it that way, thanks tho." I politely told the guy.

Just as I was finishing topping off the tank, I see an RT Spyder go wizzing by:clap: OMG, we need to catch up and follow them. Man O man, you talking about rushing, I got Teddy all tethered in and doggles on and like a bat outta hell we shot from that gas station, but Oh no, I'd lost sight of the Spyder. Well, if I was ever gonna get a ticket, it was gonna be then, cause I just layed on the throttle wide open, and within seconds we were ........ ummmm, going pretty fast to say the least and then all of a sudden, a real delima arrises.

I soon regain sight of the RT that passed by us at the station, but then we see another RT going the opposite direction :yikes: OMG, what if this one I'm trying to catch up to ISN'T going to the meeting spot, and that other one going in the opposite direction is:yikes::banghead: What to do, what to do???:dontknow::gaah::dontknow::gaah: Getting frustrated as time was ticking by, I soon notice up ahead that it wasn't just one RT that I was catching up to, but two of them and then there was another that joined the convoy, so that right there made my decision, as I figured we had a 25% chance with the one going in the opposite direction, but a 75% chance of these 3 RTs going to the meeting spot, so we got in behind them and made a small convoy of 4 RTs that I was praying were all headed for the meeting spot.

Within 5 minutes, the site of a police car in the parking lot of a BP/Wendys and then the site of almost 100 Spyders all waiting to mount up and ryde, OH WHAT A WONDERFUL SITE that was. We had made it, and with just a couple of minutes to spare.

TBC .... work work work...........

Lamonsters Bar-B-Q 2012 Part III

I didn't realize it at the time, with being so flustered about missing the group ryde, and also having ear plugs in, but I was told the next day by someone that was there at the meeting spot waiting for take off, that when the crowd realized Teddy had arrived, the entire crowd broke out in cheers. The fellow relaying this to me was all the way in the back, and hadn't seen us just yet, and thought that Lamont must have been saying something to the crowd to get the all riled up, but then realized it was due to the fact that 'The Tedster' had arrived:clap:

:clap: WoW!!! What a moment:doorag: The lil guy really is kinda famous, at least in our Spyder World:clap::doorag::clap: We made our way to the back of the pack, cause I knew that Teddy had to 'do his thang' really quick, cause I didn't even let him down to potty or anything at the last stop, so I knew he needed to go. I felt kinda bad tho, cause as I was untethering him and taking him to the grassy area to 'potty' we were getting mobbed by well wishers that were glad we made it and were wanting to meet the lil guy in person that they've read & scene so many pics of on here, but he 'needed' to do his business. And just as he was taking care of business, we start hearing the loud roar of Spyders coming to life, as it was 'KickStands UP' time, and I turned to see that the cops were already blocking traffic and Lamont was leading the pack out of the parking lot.

TBC............. that work thang:rolleyes:

Not to get off topic of your story, but I thought I saw that you won a wrap at the BBQ on the web cam. You going to install them ??????

YES, a BIG Thank You to Pete at Power Sports Wraps for the door prizes

Not to get off topic of your story, but I thought I saw that you won a wrap at the BBQ on the web cam. You going to install them ??????

And of all the events that Teddy & I have been to, this is the very first time we've EVER won anything :clap::yes: I'm not sure yet what to do with it, as I believe its an entire 'Flame' wrap, but Teds Red Sled came with the 'Tribal' design paint scheme from Danny Farris of Farris Custom Paints as part of the 2011 SpyderFest Eddition Package from Len & the Great Folks:firstplace: at CowTown:firstplace: So once I get things unpacked and settled, I'll take a closer look at it and see what we can do with it. I'm thinking since its red, yellow and orange, that it may kind of clash with Teds RED sled, but that it may look good on his camper instead :dontknow: just not sure yet:dontknow:

Why do you ask?
