Dave & Teddy's Most Excellent Adventures 2012

Running from the papparazzi*I'm sorry, but some idiots shouldn't drive or breed

So today was a hot sunny day & Teddy and I went to meet with the family for Sunday brunch at Red Lobster to Celebrate my brothers birthday tomorrow. After brunch, we started our ryde to meet up with Jesse, another local Spyder Ryder that invited us to Winton Woods Park where a biker piknik rally was being held.

On our route there, we had to take backroads to the highway and then back to backroads. Most of you know all to well the attention that the Spyder draws & thats just infinately exacerbated by a cute lil, red mowhawked, doggled wearing dog on the back. I understand and accept this and do all I can (within reason) to be accomodating to the general public vying to get a close up of the little guy, but I'm sorry, there are limits to everything.

I believe anyone that met us at Tail O The Pup at SITA, or the closing cerimonies witnessed for themselves that Teddy tries his best to be a good sport about allowing his fans to get pics of him, but even he has his limits & I'm sorry, safety is one of those limits.

Ok, so here's the madness we encountered today & I'm somewhat ashamed at how I dealt with it, but wasn't sure how else to deal with it. As we're on the highway, cruising along at 70 in a 65 mph zone, we get passed by a guy in a minivan full of at least 5 or 6 kids. I didn't think much of it until I noticed the mini-van hit his brakes and started slowing down in the high speed lane next to us til we caught up with him, then I notice the guy powers down all the windows on our side and I see him holding his Iphone aimed toward us, as the freaking idiot is driving with a van load of kids and no other adults in the vehicle. Sadly, this isn't the first time this has happened, so I usually just wave to them and kind of ignore them and go about our way. But this guy wasn't having it & he seemed clueless that he was blocking traffic in the high speed lane, as he was now holding & matching my speed. It wouldn't have been so bad, but this idiot just wasn't paying attention & kept coming over into our lane, causing me to almost side swipe the car in the slow lane next to us. I figured the guy would get the idea of how dangerous he was being when I honked & kind of shouted at him, but no, he just kept on videoing us with his Iphone. So, I slowed way down, thinking he'd finally get the hint and keep on going, but no, even tho he was in the high speed lane with traffic backing up behind both of us, he matched my speed of 55 in a 65zone. So I roll on the throttle thinking I 'll just leave this nut in the dust, but then we run into construction & I'm forced to merge over into his lane, but he wouldn't let us over & kept matching my speed, even at 80 in my attempt to get in front of him. I look over & see all these kids out the window of the back seat & feel sorry for them that they are being put in potentially life threatening positions by the guy behind the wheel. This idiot just wasn't getting it. Not knowing what else to do, I crank the stereo to max, switch to MP3 on the Zumo & put on one of Kid Rocks songs that is filled with expletives, "I don't want to get to know you, I just want to F*** you like I'm never gonna see you again!" I'm NOT proud that I did this, as I know all of the little kids in the back heard it, but so did the idiot driver & immediately, all of the windows went up and he finally got the message and went on ahead of us, allowing us to finally get over so we didn't crash into another car or the construction barracade coming up quickly on us.

Kids

I'm glad you did something. It takes all kinds. Those kids should really appreciate what you did since nothing else worked for the idiot behind the wheel, but I'm sure they didn't understand. Its all good Dave! :yikes:

That's freaking crazy Dave!:banghead::yikes: Glad you guys and his kids are OK. Teddy and you are both more then accommodating when it comes to Pics, but as you said this was just plain stupid on his part!

Dave calm down now.

Dave really you handled this much better then most of us. Thank god you don't run into these type every day.:banghead:
Mostly glad you two where fine!:thumbup:

You know that feeling, when you finally get something done you've been putting off...

Well, I've got that feeling, along with the feeling of accomplishment:yes: but its one of fixing a self inflicted wound:lecturef_smilie::opps::roflblack: but hey, it still counts damnit:rolleyes::thumbup::roflblack: I finally took the time to take the front end of Teds Red Sled apart, so I could figure out why the left side HID light had stopped working on our trip to SITA:lecturef_smilie: I had a feeling that it was the connection the we had to take apart and reverse, due to not using the relay harness and having the reverse polarity from the Spyder:rolleyes::banghead: and sure enough, that was it:chill: at least it was an easy fix, tightened it up and put a couple of zip ties on for good measure:thumbup: and now :yes:WE HAVE LIGHT:yes: just like the suns out in the middle of the night:clap::yes::clap: I feel better now, especially after the day we've had today. Gotta get to sleep, still working 12s, so I've gotta get up at 1:50am :yikes::shocked::cus::chill:nojoke:coffee: g'nite y'all:trike:

And I'm trying to plan out the trip to Lamonts Bar-B-Q and also the KY Lake Ryde Weekend as well. Looks like somethings gonna have to give, just not sure what yet:banghead::(:(:banghead:

DON'T FORGET SPYDERFEST IN APRIL:gaah::banghead:

WOW, what a walk down memory lane for the past 2 years on SpyderLovers

:opps: Someone tried to send me a PM the other day and I got a message, mailbox full, you've reached your limit of a thousand saved Private Messages:lecturef_smilie: so they weren't able to send it:opps: Sorry bout that:rolleyes:

So today, being a slow day at work, I've been going thru and trying to delete all of the non-essential back and forth PMs that Teddy & I have gotten over the past 2 years, and WOW, I was shocked at what all I've been rereading:yikes::shocked::p

:firstplace:SpyderLovers members are more of a Family than I ever realized:firstplace: Out of a thousand PMs, I couldn't delete over half of them, for they contained personal or private information or details about something that Teddy & I may still need in the future:thumbup: so many invites to members homes all across this Wonderful country:bowdown:

:yes:Teddy and I are truly blessed in more than one way to have so many Extended Family Members, and I thank you for that:bowdown:

I was Amazed at this mornings ryde

I had forgotten how desolate the streets can be, even in a Big 'ole City (medium sized midwest) on a Tuesday morning at 2:45am. I'm used to seeing the bar crowed out on the streets, with cops happily waiting for their victims like a spyder in a web. But this morning, on the entire 20 mile ryde in to work, I might have seen a total of 5 cars on the highway and not even one cop:shocked:

Made for a nice ryde really, 73 degrees and the road all to myself. Only thing that coulda made it better was if I had The Tedster with me:rolleyes:

Teddy taught himself a new trick - don't think he's too fond of me working 12s

So yeah, since we've been back from SITA, I've been working 3am-3pm Mon-Fri & mind you now, I'm NOT complaining:lecturef_smilie: I need all the OT I can get and I know its soon coming to an end, as almost the entire rest of the plant has just gone to AWS (Alternative Work Schedule) where they work 3 12 hr shifts one week, then 4 12s the next, all in an effort to eliminate OT:(

Luckily, since Mary & I are in our own department, and we're on a product that's out-going (being replaced) we're ok til the end of its projected cycle, maybe another year or two:pray:

Anyways, Teddy isn't used to me working so many hours and being gone so long:lecturef_smilie: and left all alone :(and I do feel bad for the lil guy, but I've gotta do what I gotta do to pay the bills and pay for his Red Sled:opps:

Well, I've been getting maybe 2-3 hours of sleep each night, and thats been about it, so needless to say, I've been kinda drag'n azz lately & my cognitive ability has been somewhat compromised at times (like when no coffee:coffee:) so when I went home on Friday, I was a little :shocked:shocked:yikes:to find Teddy was right there to greet me at the front door :yes: all excited to see me:yes::yes:

Why was I shocked:dontknow: Cause I always leave him in our upstairs bedroom with the ceiling fan and tv on for his enjoyment and with the door closed:banghead: I've learned this is best over the years, cause if I were to leave him downstairs, and something outside caught his attention, hey he's a dog, he's gonna bark:rolleyes:

We only have one neighbor (that's attached(condo) and they live directly below us, and before, they had small kids, so a barking dog isn't good especially when your trying to put the kids down for a nap. And I have always tried to be a good neighbor and treat them as I'd want to be treated in return, and this system has worked well for the past 4 years that we've lived here.

So when this happened on Friday, I didn't think too much of it and wrote it off as me being tired and I must have not closed the door all the way and he was able to nudge it open, no big deal. But guess what, the same thing happend when I got home from work yesterday, and I had made sure that the door was solidly closed behind me before I left yesterday:shocked: But there he was, wag'n red tail climbing the walls with excitement at finally seeing me get home:yes:

So, I figure I'll try it one more time and see what happens when I get home today:shocked: I know the door was once again solidly closed behind me when I left at 2:30 this morning. :rolleyes:We'll have to wait n see if this canine Houdini has done it again:rolleyes::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

Is the bedroom door knob round or a handle?

:shocked:If it were a round knob, I'd be calling the local news station for sure:bowdown::roflblack:

But its one of the handle types. But even being a handle, the door opens in, if it opened out, I could see with him jumping up against it, he could manage to move the handle enough, while simultaniously pushing against it to open out:yes:

But seeing as it opens inward, and the handle is up 4X his own height :yikes: the lil guys got me perplexed as to how he's pulling this off :dontknow::shocked::hun:

Unless of course, my buddy is stopping by on his way home (before I get home) and leaving the door cracked open for him:lecturef_smilie: I wouldn't put it past him, but if he were doing so, he'd be :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: his :cus: off at me by nownojoke

Teddy might be hitting the door and handle hard enough to pop it. Then it's a simple matter (for Someone of Teddy's calibre) to nudge it open with his nose or paw.

You need a nanny cam, might be worth seeing how he is doing it.:dontknow:

Not a bad idea, & I have an extra web-cam sitting around somewhere. I'll have to look into this :roflblack:pun intended:roflblack:

:yikes:I mean, he's doing it somehow, but I gotta see this:shocked:
