We had a 2008 SE5 before our 2010 RT. My total preventive maintenance cost was $557 in 43,000 miles. I change my own oil and check things that can be seen. Before the SE5 was resold by the dealer the tech checked the valves and they were all within tolerance. I will care for the RT the same way. I am probably one in a few riders that does this, but I have read too many horror stories about incompetent techs really screwing up a good running Spyder. I have also heard of dealers that will change your oil, park the bike, charge you for all the things they should, but don't do, and work on other Spyders, making more money. BRP seems to have created an ownership paranoia about "warranty" and has required a maintenance overkill on the Spyders. Am I suggesting anyone else do as I do? Not at all, just sharing my Spyder experiences.
We now have over 7500 miles on the RT and it runs like sewing machine...just hums down the highway.
