• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I want to know if somebody has installed this windshield:
CAN-AM SPYDER RT Low Touring Windshield

And if possible put some picture of the RT with it put on.

The stock one is a few too tall for me specialy when it rain........

Save yourself a couple bucks and cut your stock windshield down . I think the top of the windshield should have a lip to divert the rain to the side as I know I get the wettest from the cascade of water running up and over the windshield.

I cut almost 4 inches off of mine and now it is good. The 2010 RT shield is too tall for my 5' 7" frame. I was tired of having to look through it or streching up a little to see over. Now it is perfect at just below my line of site and still has enough in the highest position to throw the cold off of me. A jig saw and an 80 grit sanding block along with a 220 block is most of what you need. You can always go on to a 1000 grit to get a glass finish on the edge. Caution: use plenty of painters tape on both sides of the shield below your cut line and Leave the tape on until you are satisified with the finish. believe me that is best to just leave it on. I made the mistake of taking the tape off early and then picked up the sanding block again and had a slip. well, i cut another 3/4 inch off to take care of the scratches. It really will turn out well, only takes an hour or so. The worst you will do is go to the dealer and order a 200.00 shield to replace it with. By the way, I left the sheild on the spyder while cutting it. I covered the dash with a towel to catch the shavings.

I'm a little afraid to cut my shield

I do understand your concern about cutting a perfectly good shield. I had never cut one either, I went on the net and watched videos on how to do it and it really isn't that difficult. The most trouble i had was finding something to mark the shield with. I ended up using a crayon that I borrowed from my granddaughter. I made a cardboard pattern from the shield and transfered it over with the crayon. Take your time and don't rush the jigsaw and it will come out fine. If you decide to try it good luck. it is not as hard as it looks.
 
I'm interested in lower windshield also. I did cut my own down on Goldwing and it was OK but just didn't look as nice as stock. Got a small Cee Baileys to replace and I was happy with that. It's also nice to be able to offer the stock windscreen if and when you sell Spyder. My main issue with the sport is that it's 1) not small enough and 2) too expensive. Are there any alternatives out there? Tom/Fort Myers

sheild after I cut it down. It is almost 4 inches shorter than before.
 
here is another close up of the edge finish. kind of blurry but you can see how well the cut smooths out. IMG-20120510-00301.jpg items availabe at any supply store are
80 grit sanding block, 220 grit sanding block a small sheet or two of 500 and 1000 grit. I even had a peice of 3000 grit used to polish car headlight lenses that I finished up with.
when using the 500 and finer grits, just wet your fingers and rub the edge or put a little on the sand paper. The wet sanding helps the finish. Contact me if you decide to do it and have any questions.
