There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. We are planning a mega trip next year and are contemplating a Spyder RT trailer; what are people's experiences? any problems? handling issues? We have gone from a K1200LT with a Unigo to an RT and absolutely love the RT but need more space-our trip will be about 12,000 miles in a month and a half-also is there a master list of Spyder dealers throughout the U.S. and canada?

In 2007 I took an after-market trailer attached to my Harley Sportster on an 11,500 mile trip to Alaska. By the end of the trip I was holding the trailer together with bungees:gaah:. The trailer gave me nothing but trouble and I swore completely off trailers:(. But over the years I softened a bit and got the 622 trailer with my 2010 RT. I have to say that was one of the best decisions I ever made:clap:. I did have some water issuse at first but the "Water Management Kit" eliminated the problems. The trailer handles extremely well and most of the time I don't even know it's there. Fuel consumption went up by about 1 mi/gal. I had a K1200GT before my Spyder and I simply love the Spyder.

We were on the road for 4,600 miles and about 3 1/2 weeks this summer pulling the 622 with our RT. It is a great trailer. We had no issues, towing was easy and most of the time you don't even know it's there.

I absolutely love my RT-622. I totally forget that I'm towing it. It handles really well even in high winds. If you are looking at a 2011 it will already have the water management kit installed. If you are looking at a used 2010 I would be sure that the kit is either given to you to install or that it already has it installed. The kit was provided to registered owners for free and it only takes a few minutes to install.

I had issues with the lock pulling out. This happened twice and was replaced under warranty. I believe that they changed the latch piece for 2011 so it shouldn't be an issue any longer.

I put Ride-on in my tires so I don't carry a spare tire.

Be careful if you are moving the trailer around if you lift the tongue too high you will scrape the rear of the trailer on the ground and scratch the paint. We attached a strap to the tongue with velcro so that we can move it and not worry about it scraping.

We love our trailer!! I didn't think of buying one when we bought our RT, but when my wife started making a list of the things she needed to bring (and buy), I figured the trailer would be a great addition. We have used it for 2 long trips, and recently used it to take my golf clubs to the course. Easy to hook and remove, it feels like it's not there, it handles great and matching the RT makes a plus to get.

We have to agree with all of the comments above. We traveled over 2100 miles through North Carolina and Tennessee going into and out of the Smokies and didn't even notice the trailer was behind us. You have to look sometimes just to make sure you didn't loose it:clap::clap:It's a great trailer.

The RT-6222 trailer is a great addition for the RT. It can carry lots of things. With the two cargo lids it makes it easy to load or unload your items from the trailer. With the RT-622 trailer my RT feels like it tracks better. I have Ride-On in ther tires, no spare. As stated before you do not know that the trailer is behind you.

Based on the reviews--the BRP trailer sounds like a good way to go for those who are so inclined. I thought about it when making my RT-S purchase--but the price kind of blew me away.

I have learned to travel light--but will admit that the most miles on my :spyder2: at one time for a trip were about 2500. Last summer--traveled to Whitehorse Yukon and Skagway AK from Eagle River AK.

I also prefer to spend the nights in hotel/motel as I don't like camping where the critters think you are a nice snack.

Good trailer--but not currently in my future.

I have three trailers that I tow with the RT. The RT-622 was Nancy's idea, to ease our packing for an 11 day trip, and I must admit that it was a great idea! Took it on the Maggie Valley/Ble Ridge Parkway trip, and it was pure luxury. I have had some water leakage at the front lid in heavy rain, but no other problems. The trailer pulls along as if it wasn't even there, and the coil-over suspension adds real shocks to the mix, so you don't even feel the bumps. The suspension is adjustable for heavier loads, too. I have mine set at #4, and it still soaks up bumps like a sponge, whether empty or full. I have added the tongue stand, cargo management kit (nets), and cargo stabilizer blocks (2 sets) to make it even better. Plenty of room in the very center for our Yeti Tundra bear-proof cooler, which is a large beast. The best part is that the loaded trailer doesn't impact my fuel mileage nearly as much as our pop-up camping trailer.

We were on the verge of buying a trailer, but went this way instead…. this has proven to be much better for us - and my truck gets 17 mpg, pulling the trailer at max legal speeds….

Is the water management kit simply a hole in the bottom of the trailer?:D

No, it is sort of a gutter with a straw that dumps the water out a hole by the wheel. Lamont had a thread about how to install it with pictures or you could look at the BRP accessory catalog as it is listed and I think pictured in that. Takes a couple of minutes to install. It catches the water as it runs off the large lid.

You won't be sorry with the RT factory trailer

My wife and I are on the road now and have traveled 3000 miles so far on our vacation (my 60th birthday bash)trip. Still have about a thousand to go to get home to upper east Tennessee. In Wichita KS as I write this. All comments are spot on about the trailers handling. Our trailer is loaded and handles like a dream. The size, styling and overall functionality of the trailer is top notch. Yep, the price is high but you truly get what you pay for. The independent supension is the key to a small trailer in preventing the "waggle" you see on so many streight axle units. Not to mention the amout of volume you gain in a much lower floor pan . this is the biggest little trailer you'll ever see! Almost forgot, the lights are great matching the RT's.

also is there a master list of Spyder dealers throughout the U.S. and canada?

There was a file posted by Lamonster about a year ago that you could download on your Garmin (if you have one) I am not sure if there is a new one available. I know there a quite a few additional dealers in Canada over the last year or so.
