• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Bonneville 2011

I think Drag is the big issue. Even with a change in gearing Drag is gonna be a drag.

truth.

I will test and drive whatever will go faster, just need that said death machine, it could be pink with someone else's name on it as long as its faster. I got a check engine fault at 118 on the way home a few nights ago, My first thought was "shhhitttttt, I should have not night leaned it to 14.3 but it was not blown, I guess with the PC5 it throws you a fault code unlike the JB which cooks holes in pistons. I changed the afm to 13.8 , adjusted the trim and found out when you do this in public people think that you can just hook a computer up to your bike and push the plus button for hp and it can be done to "their bike" just as easily, TOO fast, TOO furious, this was of course done in cop shop parking lot.

We sure enjoyed the expeirence via the threads. Great team work guys.
A good model to look at for reducing drag at the front wheels is the Spyder Hybird and Vetreka set ups.
But agree with Scotty the gearing and rear tire is first.

I don't disagree about the drag. These things have the aerodynamics of a parachute. What it amounts to is the most cost effective place to attack the problem...plus the rules restrictions in place regarding streamlining. It would take some brainstorming to find answers to both hurdles.

Front fenders?? Can something be made up to mimic those on the hybrid Spyder? They look as if they were designed to slip through the air unnoticed...

I know this might work, Don't know if it's legal, A studded rear tire will get more traction on salt,
But you will lose traction on hard surfaces.
I used them to commute to the big city in the winter with my Beetle, the one with out the radiator caps, Still have the groves cut on the floor of my garage.:(

Now THAT would make a fashion statement!
Streamlining... What about that piece that the Hybrid has around the drive belt?

i was told it was a speedster class then told it was a cyclecar class, both are in JUST the FIM because again, the AMA hates can am.

I was told again but a AMA guy checking in at impound before my second return run(the average is the speed they use in FIM) that it just had to have 3 wheels that tracked in 3 spots, there was not turbo or engine or streamline limitation, the only other person that showed up was a leeman trike with 150hp to the tires but it was a 5 gear system with a 5grand rev limit so I don't know how well they did

Wheel skirts

SethO;368122) the front fenders were going to go but I was in a debate with the wind grabing the tires tread or creating turbulence because they are missing said:
Maybe BRP can lend you the front wheel covers from the hybrid. They may also have some aerodynamic research that could help you.

Turbo is the answer. Bring you quicker at 130, keep-it constant there with 6-8 psi...

I keep hearing Turbo... Do you think that would give you the top-end to pull more gearing?? What about those 30 tooth front pulleys?

More speed

You do NOT need a turbocharger:thumbup:.
My mechanic claims that you can get an increase of 40 Horse Power thru the use of Nitrous Oxide injection. It seems to me that 40 more horses with a smaller rear sprocket would get you up to 130 mph. You would have to get your Power Commander remapped. With a 5lb bottle of Nitrous, you should be able to complete all of your runs on the Salt.:lecturef_smilie: Any aerodynamic improvements would help.
Also, as I suspected out on the Salt, you want to REDUCE your A/F ratio, not increase it. For max power, you should run at an A/F ratio of 12.8:lecturef_smilie:

Spyder RS's fuel pump+injectors are NOT designed for speed over 127 miles/hour: with or w/o turbo; with or w/o Power Commander. We did the fluid measurements, dyno for every map for the last 40 days since Silver Dream was down and the solution is in the works. ;)

Any time I have mentioned more HP I have also said that a gear change is also necessary. If you REDUCE the size of the rear sprocket you can increase RPMs of the rear tire without exceeding redline.
That's my take on the subject.

How about chain transmission?

Doing away with the belt?? I've never looked up under her skirts, but if you could find (or make!) sprockets; why not?? It would open up a lot of gearing options...
A rather long hunk of chain would be needed... stabilizing it "midstream"????? :dontknow:
