There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Bikes you would like to see come back

I noticed Honda is not making Valkyries anymore. Too bad. It got me thinking about other bikes that need to be resurrected.

Honda Magna

I had one of these and I agree! I would like this one to make a comeback. It was one of my favorites.

I had a Honda 750 super sport 1981. A 750 honda intercepter that was a sweet fast bike. Of course that was turning my wild and crazy days. Then I got my kz 1300 dresser and that ended my crouch rocket days.

Like XS 650 in one of the first posts, I see some of these street-tracked, or bobbed.

I had a 1978 Yamaha XS650 for a couple of years but sold it to move up to a larger bike so the wifey could ride along. The guy I sold it to stopped by the house several years later and had an ungodly number of miles on it. Said he had ridden it all around the USA several times and it had never had the head off. Still looked almost new.

Paid $1650 for it, brand new, in '77.

Hmmmmm

In 45 years of riding, I remember lots of great bikes. That said, the new stuff is amazing! Every possible metric: speed, quickness, brakes, handling, comfort....all much better now! If I had all the money back that I spent on power upgrades over the years, I could buy a fleet of new Spyders!!! I spent 10k on a Harley Electra Glide to get it to 100 HP. A new Spyder comes stock with more!! And stone reliable! My experience with my Harley's was VASTLY different! I broke a lot of stuff, and repaired it with the best upgrade I could afford. So, while I loved and had a lot of fun, I love the new technology and power. Back in the day, hitting the "ton" (100mph) was a milestone. Only the baddest mammajammas could do that! Today, any Spyder, bone stock, can do it! Triple disk brakes, fuel injection, the traction control, the list goes on and on. A friend brought his brand new Ducati 950 Multistrada over to show it off to me. Awesome! 450#, 113 HP, different riding modes, totally badass! BUT: no cruise, no heated grips or seat, no electric windshield, tiny bags, tiny windshield. Less comfortable, fewer amenities. I like the new stuff, and while lots of old iron is cool, it is still old. I like the new technology! It rocks!!! Joe

:agree: The bikes are MUCH better today...
But time has a great way of making the memories seem all that much better... :D

Daddy bought me a mini-trail 50 when they came out in 68. Rode it on back roads more than trails ;)
Ahhh...
The old Z50 "Hardtails". :D

I wonder how many of us came out of the woods limping, after a particularly "competitive" ride? nojoke

This is like my first bike, same color. A 1993 Nighthawk 750. I would like a modern version. The CB1100 is the closes, but not as good looking as this one.

How about the Spyder RSS or a sport minded Spyder with a non cruiser riding position

:clap:Yes please!

Lots of nice bikes being listed. The two strokes would be a blast. But bringing them back might take away some of the original's charm and collectibility, no?

Then again, I'd like to have one of these at "affordable" prices. In my mind, one of the most beautiful sport bikes ever.

:D Yes, you sure do!

Wow! How many problems can you find in that commercial?

  • heels, skirt, hat
  • no helmet
  • how much hair spray must she have used to never have any hair move?
  • would you give up your bike's keys to a valet parking attendant?
  • kid also not wearing any protective gear

This was obviously shot in Europe and you still scenes like this over there although you would see more helmets today, but not so much even here in the USA. Back in the day no one wore a helmet unless they were on a race track. In the early 60's I was drag racing at the local track (NHRA rules) and not required to wear a helmet. Life was very different back then.

That advertisement was airing back in 1966...
We were ALL a lot tougher back then! :D
