• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Bad news on my PE RT-S PE #039

RT-S PE#0039
Went over to Spyder dealership to pickup PE 039 just before lunch but they have a problem with delivery today. Seems like there is a 3" scratch on the right front fender and missing the vent grill on the same side(they can switch out the fender and borrow a grill from another unit) but the big problem is they can not get the unit to take a charge. We are waiting on a 2nd opinion after another tech hooks up the laptop again. They are now telling me the parts would be at least 2-weeks before they come in but I can take delivery of another unit, PE 267 which shipped with mine.

After inspecting both VIN's, I noticed that PE 0039 has is 0AV000039 but PE 267 is 2AV000267. Looks like the number in front of the AV is based on groups of 100, could someone check to verify this information.

Do you guys think it would matter taking delivery of the higher VIN#? Not sure if the value would be any different down the road but who knows! My excitement took a 180 degree turn, new unit not taking a charge, WOW. :( I hope this is not some sort of sign of quality control issues.

I had # 37 of a first year production Corvette ZO6, it brought me no extra $$, unless I had not driven it for the 4 years that i owned it, (i put 56k miles on it) sold it to get the
SPYDER # 0412 so #267, think of it this way, they had a couple hundred more chances to get it right! :2thumbs: now hurry down there and claim your baby!!, you can
have stitched on the seat ,"replaced #0039":roflblack:

my girls gs had same problem when we picked it up ...not sure about RT but hers was a 50 amp fuse under the seat.... no problems since:thumbup:

IMO the PE number doesn't mean anything unless you are Jay Leno. I had PE 1026 on the 2008 models. It burned to the ground along with the PE number. I like my 2009 GS better and it doesn't have a PE number.

That would be a good start for them to look and is most likely the problem :ani29:Maybe it wasn't seated right and shipping does get a little rough sometimes or just a bad fuse :ani29:One thing I saw first hand is they def fire them up at plant :ani29:

It might be a fuse but might also be just a bad battery. I think Scotty mentioned that the battery in his new RT-S wouldn't take a full charge, either. I am considering taking a new Odyssey PC-680 battery to my dealer and asking them to install it when they set up my RT. I've never had very good luck with Yuasa batteries and Odysseys seem to be very good. The Odyssey in my current BMW has been going for more than 5 years and I've never had a motorcycle battery last anywhere near that long before. When you are spending more than $20,000, what's $125 more?

NO ONE is going to say "OH MAN ....you only got a 267?...that spyder sucks"

now if you get one that doesnt start......someone might say "OH MAN.....wont start?........that spyder sucks"

When you said that it's missing the vent grill, were you speaking of a grill like is on the left side that looks like a honey comb? If yes, there isn't one on the right side. It does look like there should be something there, but BRP in all their wisdom think that the air flow through the radiator would be obstructed, so, no grill.

Agreed---It is just a number people.. Seems like lately everyone is getting wrapped around have the lowest number,, the very first one,, the first one in the state they live in-- I will guarentee you when (and if) it ever the day you folks want to sell your spyders the buyer is not going to base his decision on "Oh,, by the way, what production number do you have??"----NOT.... To be honest with you I would prefer a later model one...

I think the PE that I just test drove was #....???? I don't know...I think I sat on it. The ride sure was SWEET--I even touched a little snow and it handled great!!!!! I don't think it had a thing to do with the number.:D
