TORCH

I hear it was in the running as the next Olympic torch. :)

Very funny Scotty :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: I'm still a tad concerned about that one....In retrospect it was a little funny because a lady had stopped behind me , not to get gas just to ask about the Spyder. Her comment in a very loud voice was " OH S*IT ", she didn't ask me any more about the Spyder......I wonder why ?......:roflblack:

Dealer made the comment about seeing this clutch explosion on SE-5 as well. FYI

UPDATE - I have been waiting since late July for back order parts. Dealer called yesterday and bearings they need are backordered to mid September. This will be 6 months before they even fire it up the first time to see how they did. :banghead: Maybe October I will have it back at this rate.

Question now is will the SE5 transmission be covered since it is semi auto. A car dealer will not cover a clutch but will cover all of the auto trans.

I just finished reading the horrifying saga of your Spyder issues. This is scary for all of us. I'm so sorry and hope that when you do get it back, you will be able to turn it over into a ride and/or product you feel better about. :(

Is Carlo dead?

Well the debacle continues!!

It has now been 6 months my spyder has been in the shop. The dealer said the last part was to come in last week and well it did on the 19th. Unfortunately it was not the last part and there are more on back order.

BRP straight up lied to me about parts being back ordered and the days of Carlo swooping in and taking care of the community when all else fails are clearly over! There is a new regime in town and guess what, they dont give a *&%$ about you Mr. Customer!

In the 3 years I have owned this bike it has been in the shop for 10 months total. A record that would have killed most manufacturers products.

10 months of warranty where i should have been riding my bike are gone. I have missed the entire spring & summer and at this rate will miss the fall riding months.

I cannot get this bike back fast enough to sell it and get something better and more reliable. I will never endorse nor defend this company or their products and will speak negatively at every opportunity.

My suggestion is to dump your spyder now before you get caught up like I have. BRP has done nothing to make this right and have defended their inactions and that of the dealer.

You, the customer, do not matter to them and before you realize it first hand I would suggest you drop this product ASAP!

If you are considering buying a spyder, i strongly urge you to look at another product unless you have tons of disposable income to throw away on half ass engineering and horrible customer support. Warranty means nothing to these people and neither does customer satisfaction. They damn near killed me with the shoddy engineering on the DPS system and may have killed others that will never be determined.

BRP I know is reading this and to you I say, bite me! You and your company are a disappointment and have failed in all respects! Thanks for stealing my money and reminding me of exactly how horrible corporations can be and get away with it. I will never make this mistake again with any product from BRP. You are a disgrace!

I am writing this to warn others of your failings and will update as time progresses as I do not anticipate I will get my spyder back anytime soon.

Back in April my Spyder completely went nuclear. Now I am not a mechanic, but I like to think myself a pretty logical person. Best the dealer can tell is the clutch suffered catastrophic failure when the clutch plates broke apart into several pieces. Clutch material reportedly went through the screen and took out the oil pump, engine lost pressure and multiple components exploded. Internals were a mess and I have been struggling with BRP to get it fixed ever since. The dealer said the clutch plates show no signs of abuse or being worn out. There was no evidence of heat damage or blueing either. Ok, so this is pretty foreign to me, but it sounds like not something that was my fault. Dealer admits they believe this to be a faulty or production related issue with the clutch. They had seen this before and also on several automatics. Guessing automatics have less clutch issues.

Its been over 4 months now, prime riding season and I am still fighting with BRP. After getting the run around by BRP customer service and a little bit of yelling some progress was made. Initially they wee inclined to not cover any of it, as they said it was caused by the clutch. Clutch is a wear item and is not covered under B.E.S.T. warranty. Too bad, so sad Mr. Customer. The end price tag was somewhere in the range of $8-9k out of my pocket for a new engine and clutch. I promptly lost my mind and continued to raise hell with the dealer and it soon became clear BRP was the culprit. A gentleman was apparently slow walking this and appeared he was just trying to deny the warranty claim and was putting the dealer in a bad spot. Dealer has since worked it through another warranty claims person and things are moving forward.

I still have several issues -

- CLutch explodes at 13k miles? What is that all about?
- Even though my engine went through a catastrophic failure they are piece parting my baby back together. Dealer is saying they used to provide crate engines, but the last few have been rebuilt. Oh, I dont feel comfortable my engine is going to last long having blown apart once now.
- BRP is still sticking me with replacement of the clutch plates and clutch basket, whatever that is.
- I may get it back this month or I may not, apparently a lot of the piece parts are on back order. On the 18th of august it will be 5 months.
- My B.E.S.T. warranty expires with no options to renew in Jan time frame. I guess if the clutch decides to explode again I am just expected to fork over $8k to have it replaced again. Thats not going to happen.
- Lastly, i have just an overwhelming disappointment in BRP and though i have enjoyed my Spyder even after numerous power steering replacements and an estimated 9 months in the shop total for failed components, i am seriously thinking of giving up on this product and cutting my losses. :(

Im wondering if anyone else has had this exploding clutch issue and or issues with B.E.S.T. warranty coverage? This seems really shady and not the way to do business.

With the dealer apparently saying it was not a failure that was caused by you, an extended loss of use of the product while it was under warranty and the obvious lack of concern on the part of BRP, are you considering litigation? Unless there is something buried in this post that I have missed, I would seriously consider it. BRP seems to be quite indifferent to customer problems even when they have chronic and recurring failures that are seemingly caused by designs that are not robust enough for real life. 8K for repairs on a bike with 13k miles on it is ridiculous.
