Apple Car Play download initially failed! NOW Finally available....

Before the update: I have an Android. Phone and both my headsets were paired to the Spyder. Audio from my phone to both helmets. Phone and both helmets connected when I started the Spyder. Everything was working pretty well. Answer phone calls by saying "Hello", etc.

After update: Bluetooth Fault Detected. Can't pair anything. Phone and headset gone from Spyder bluetooth connections. I should have left well enough alone.

I wiped everything AGAIN and paired the Cardo to my Phone on BT #1, and to the Spyder on BT #2. Then paired phone to Spyder.

At least on that one test, I can now switch the audio output from Carplay between the Spyder speakers and the BT headset by using the on-screen menu on the Spyder. Hey Siri works. I swapped output multiple times and it worked. For how long, I don't know. And no idea if it will actually work on a phone call without self-destructing like it did before.

I would try the reset option on the Spyder and re-pair your stuff if you haven't already. Might get rid of any legacy gunk from the initial firmware. Doesn't take that long to re-pair your phone and WiFi to give it a shot anyway.

Can you provide details about how you switch the Carplay audio output from coming through your headset to coming out of the Spyder's speakers?

Which on-screen menu and options?

Thanks. :)

It's the ride settings button.

Toggle it until the screen with a headphone icon shows up. There you can switch between the headset and the bike's speakers.

Thanks but, after the reset, same issue.

I owe you an apology, since I was able to get the radio to play through headset in my helmet, but...there's always a "but" right?

When I went into the Bluetooth configuration my Spyder was saying neither my headset or iPhone were connected.
I tried to get both to connect, and the Spyder went through the connection attempts, and appeared to connect, but then reported them as not connected.
Obviously that was false, since the radio was playing through my headset.

I had to come back inside for a scheduled phone call, but will play with it some more later.

So again, thank you for proving me wrong. :banghead:

Don't feel bad. I swear the behavior on mine changes from day to day even though I haven't changed anything. Last night it seemed to be working pretty well but I supsect the next time I ride it nothing will work right again...

So I figured out the Bluetooth issue, or at least I think I did.

In my test earlier this morning I turned the key to the On position, but did not start the Spyder's engine.
So I tried again, and got one failure and one success!

Test 1 - failure:

iPhone powered on and connected to the USB cable in the glove box
Helmet headphone turned off
Start the engine
Turn on the helmet headphone

Same results as before, Bluetooth said nothing was connected, and the Carplay icon was grayed out.
Pressing on the Carplay icon gave me the "iphone not connected" error message.

Test 2 - Success!!

Turned off the engine
Unplugged the iPhone from the USB cable in the glove box
Turned off the helmet headphone

Started the engine and responded to the "read the card" message
Display comes up and Carplay is grayed out.

Plug the iPhone into the USB cable in the glove box
Turn on the headset in the helmet
And the Carplay display comes up just as it did in my earlier post:

So my results suggest the engine has to be running before you connect your iPhone, or the display doesn't "see" that it's connected.

I think maybe you're just experiencing the randomness of the Spyder and ACP. All my tests were done without the engine running and it was actually working fine last night in the garage that way. :)

Maybe we all need to sacrifice a chicken or something on the hood of the Spyder to finally get this working right, and repeatably!

So your comment reminded me of a scene from the movie Major League, where one of the players, Serrano, wants to sacrifice a live chicken to break his no-hit streak.
I think they brought him a bucket of chicken.
So should I order from KFC before my next ride?

I just got home from meeting a friend for lunch and have been doing some paperwork/record keeping things, so I haven't been back out to the bike yet.

Time to ride, even if it's hot and humid outside!

Weather.com says it's 91 F outside, but feels like 97 F.
It's supposed to be a little cooler tomorrow morning, 80 F at 8am climbing to 90 F by Noon.

And I'm going to retest before I ride just to see what gremlins I've picked up... which reminds me, I do have a Gremlin bell that I need to find a place to mount.

Hello Racoon
Here is my experience on getting my '24 RT Spyder to run ACP.

After several attempts and having the connection of ACP working and getting my Cardo Packtalk Bold to play "radio" and "music" from my Spyder, I think I have got it working. I can toggle between "radio" and "music" with the button on the handlebar. I first paired the Packtalk headset to the Spyder, then paired the Packtalk to my iPhone, (so I can log into it to change settings on the headset).

To start the Spyder, I unlock my iPhone and plug it into the USB plug.
I start up my headset.
I then turn on the Spyder and wait until the Splash Screen Warning comes up, turn the throttle, and start the Spyder.
Then I see the ACP go from grey to color.

We just did a 4-day trip with our Spyder S2S. Had a few issues with ACP. Music played thru speakers and actually sounds louder than just Bluetooth. Directions didn’t come thru the speakers though. Barely audible thru Cardo. The speakers would stop playing music. Directions on Cardo then back to music on the speakers.
We have Cardo PackTalk Edge. When both Cardo’s are Bluetooth to the Spyder we would lose helmet to helmet intercom sometimes. Once I removed the passenger Bluetooth connection from the Spyder, the issue went away.

My procedure for startup was:

  1. Turn on both Cardo headsets;
  2. Plug iPhone 15 into the Spyder;
  3. Turn the key on;
  4. Wait for message and twist throttle fwd;
  5. Start the Spyder.

Really not impressed with ACP atm. I run a Cardo PackTalk Edge Bluetoothed to Spyder and iphone connected to USB. I’ve tested Google maps, Apple Maps and MRA Next. You can have music or turn-by-turn just fine but when you try to have both the experience tanks. When the gps directions kick in, the music mutes as one would expect. However when the music comes back it’s louder for about 1 sec, then cuts out again and then comes back at normal volume. What a mess. When I run music via Bluetooth directly to my headset and run the intercom I at least have mixing controls to set the mute level (I run it off).

Unfortunately ACP is not going to work for my needs at this time. Perhaps down the road.

Agreed. ACP "works" in that it shows up on the display and audio occasionally works. But it's a buggy mess at this point. Hopefully we'll get another release in six months that actually makes it usable. :rolleyes:

@jfischer TIC - Will that be the same 6 months BRP quoted last year? Or the 12 months it is to have a buggy ACP release that at least taunts and tortures us to no end? LOL

Hey, you folks with the iPhones at least get that far... My Samsung Note 20 5g isn't going to work with ACP. And Carpuride says, "nope, it won't work with the w702 either; the unit that other older Spyders can use (it's a Samsung compatibility issue!)

What I do, is just use my Sena 50S connected to my phone, which is plugged into the Spyder USB for power. Then I open Google Maps, and it sends spoken directions to the Sena. The phone is on a holder on the handlebars. I connect the Sena 50S MESH to my wife's Sena 50S so we can talk. She plays music on her phone, and I can get that shared via MESH to my Sena. The only thing is, the phone gets pretty hot in summer. And I need to see the screen, so I know Google Maps isn't screwing with me.

Don't you just love workarounds?

I have yet to try my spare Wireless Carplay adapter, which would let me keep my phone in my pocket to see if it works on the Spyder. It worked fine on my Jeep, it just emulates a wired connection as far as your vehicle is concerned.

The CarLinkIt IV is supposed to be able to translate Android Auto to ACP compatibleness so you can use it on a vehicle that does not have AA support. Might be worth a shot. Only downside is that your battery gets chewed on while using Wireless AA or ACP, but if you can keep phone charging via USB in the back maybe that would be an option? For a few hours it's fine, but an 8 hour ride would severely eat into your phone's battery life using wireless CP or AA.

Ración Thank you for your answer, it has helped me to keep trying and in the end I got it and it works, I hear the music, they work and I can hear the instructions from TomTom, Google Maps and Myroute. Since everything couldn't be good, both when making calls and when receiving them, they couldn't hear me or hear me. I've tried all the possible configurations with my Sena and nothing. I wrote to BRP and they replied that they would soon send instructions for the ACP operation. To further spoil everything, my dealership will close at the end of the month without prior notice and it is 200km away and the closest one will only be 500km away. It is my sixth spyder and it will be the last, HD respects and takes more care of its customers. Does anyone get their calls to work? Here in Europe we have not been offered any compensation for the ACP.

Mine still shows "Bluetooth Fault Detected" after upgrade. I have an appointment with the dealer on Aug. 16th. :( I asked what they would do and of course, they said they would hook up to Buds. I wish they would call Can Am. Can't believe I am the only one with this issue after the ACP firmware. Oh well. I may just bluetooth to my headsets and call it good.

Have you tried disconnecting battery and letting it sit for a bit then reconnecting? Give the head unit a good reboot that way?
