And the Journey Begins...

Well, I did it. I have been contemplating this for a while now and after much deliberation I have decided to...

GIVE 14 A SISTER!!

The Suzuki GSX1250FA. This machine is just Butter, man. Makes extremely nice power and low end torque but the power band is smooth and wide. Very flickable for a bigger Bike, too. And ABS comes standard! A new journey has begun and I'm stoked! :doorag: 14 will now get a well deserved rest.

Hey Orange! I like the simple Black as well. I seem to be drawn to the stealthier look! It's actually got a killer blue metal flake in the paint that you don't really see unless you look deep. Pretty killer.

Yes, the plan as of now is to keep 14 for sure. I was gonna trade her for a Yamaha FJR1300, but something just did't feel right about that. I'm pretty attached to it still so I got rid of my truck instead so I could keep her! :D

The FJR may still be the ultimate goal (or the Motus if they ever get to production) but the FA is gonna be a keeper I can tell. A much better choice for me than the VFR or the FZ1.

What's funny is when I got the FA home I was moving bikes around and I did the phantom hand brake thing already on 14!

Very easy on the eyes! I love looking at the two-wheelers, and I am so drawn to them. I've never had the nerve to actually ride one though - I haven't figured out the gears/clutch thingie. Even when I took my motorcycle class, I was put on a scooter (my ride at the time was a Piaggio MP3, and my left foot was in a cast).

Very beautiful bike!

:2thumbs::2thumbs:

Saw one of those strewn across a 1/4 mile of road and ditch the other day, from a rider who tried to deny physics. Ride sane, and leave the "flickable" for a swept track.

Nice. Especially the black :2thumbs:

Yessir, I know what you mean. You need to check your ego at the door when you decide to pilot one of these. She'll get ya quick. Many guys start to feel good with these things and then get in over their heads. That will not happen here. I've come to far to do something stupid like that now! :D

The beauty of this machine is that it's so smooth you end up (or at least I do) keeping it cool because you are enjoying it so much. I just can't get over how smooth and quiet she is. She truly is a stealth machine. I feel like "Ghost Rider"!

Very nice, good luck with it....:2thumbs:
Thanks Lou. It's funny how things work out. One of the bigger factors that went into selecting this machine was how I "landed" on it. Every time I would throw my leg over it I would land in just the right spot, and the controls are just where I need them to be.

The ergos are good too. My knees are at 72 degrees and my back is only at a 4 degree lean angle, which is just what I was looking for; upright but aggressive. This machine is very comfortable and delivers excellent range. All in all it think it was a very good choice.

:congrats: and good luck Dennis with the new toy. That is a bad ass ride and I love the way it looks fast parked. :ohyea:

Thanks Rich! Kind of neat how I ended up with this one after all the drooling I was doing over the FZ1. I was convinced I was going to end up with one of those, but then I sat on it and realized I was just too knees-up on it. At the end of the day though I like the styling of the FA better anyway and I know this machine will not be as twitchy and wild as the FZ would be.

Neatest thing of all was that I was able to keep Phantom 14. Russ @ GP Sports, you rock buddy! He made it happen. So my hope of having the best of both worlds (minus my truck, of course, but something had to go :() actually came to be!

Nice. Especially the black :2thumbs:

I agree Wheeler. Many Other folks love the intricate paint designs and/or brilliant colors, but for some reason I have always been drawn to the more low-key look. Understated but sinister... :doorag:

For sure. Were I younger....... The ergonomics just don't work for me now. (OK, really just an excuse; those rockets scare me<G>). Likely I'll see it around the neighborhood though. Enjoy. A.

I'm quite sure you will, as I just noticed your location! :D In fact now that the soggy Moto GP races are over I'm heading out right now. Gotta take advantage of this cameo appearance of Sun we got today! Talk to y'all later...

:congrats: That is indeed a beautiful ride. Be safe--it looks fast standing still.

Thank you Sir! We had an excellent day out together bonding, and I have to say that this machine is a powerhouse! It's deceptive though because she's so smooth and quiet you just don't feel it. Because I am breaking her in I just kept it out of 6th gear, only doing a slight roll-on, shift to 6th, let her get to about 4900-5000 and then roll off and get back to 5th! Crusing in 6th on the open road is where the fuel effinciency is really going to be nice. For the performance and low-end pull that this mill delivers, 42-45 MPG will easilly be a realistic number. And with a 5 gallon tank that means very good range.

And man does she carve. I kept it way down because the tires are still very new and I need to wear the glaze off of them, but she is extremely agile for a 567 lb. machine.
