• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2018 RTL Brakes feel 'spongy' - Is this normal?

Newer owner, the 2018 has 13,000 miles, I’ve put about 1000 miles on the RTL so far. The brakes have felt “spongy” from my first ride, I’m paddle shifting to let the motor slow the trike at every stop. Is this normal? The brakes do squeal a bit till they warm up, then no noise. I think that may be a separate topic… thought I’d reach out to the forum before I go the service route. Your responses are appreciated.

Your brakes are not performing normally. It's your backside that's on the line here. I know a good bit about my roadster's brakes and sure wouldn't ride mine in the fashion you describe. Get thee to a service activity, PRONTO!!!

NOT NORMAL!
Get it looked at ASAP!

Definitely get it looked at.
Did you get any service records when you bought it?

Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture from the air over time.

In the Maintenance Schedule section of my Operator's Guide it says the brake fluid should be changed every two years, regardless of the mileage.

Stupid question, but it caught me out a few times. Unable to see the brake pedal, and unable to feel it through my size 12, thick vibram soles, I stopped to take a look at where the pedal was in relation to my foot. I was pressing on the arm, rather than the pedal itself. A few practices getting foot on pedal, first time every time and the problem disappeared.

They never felt soft or as though there was too much travel - just that they were not slowing the Tryke fast very effectively.

I find that changing down increases the speed. It knocks it down a gear but IT increases the revs to match, giving the road speed a little boost.
I just use the brake and let it change down for me.
