2013 owner with handling isssus- Please read

Not all but some of the 2013 Spyders may have been sent out from the factory with out of spec alinement. Checking your alinement on a 2013 is nothing like the old alinement procedure so if you have a 2013 roadster and notice handling/steering issues when driving at highway speeds, go back to your dealership and inquire about a solution made available by BRP.

If you're not having any issues most likely your Spyder is fine. This is for all Spyders (RS, ST and RT).

I believe I've been a lucky one where alignment isn't an issue.

how the heck does a company forget to check on a safety matter like steering handeling issue they must be only interested in the Bank account balance they wont forget that I,am sure ?? like I said the company dont care after the sale and it shows up in Issues here each and EVERYDAY ,,too bad a great product but poor quality and workmanship by the company not the Spyderlovers fault but we take the Blunt of the matter thanks

Update on 2013 wobble

Hi all
Just wanted to post the latest news from BRP themselves regarding the wobbling issue on the 2013 RTS SE5. I know Lamont posted a test here for the dealer to perform and I sent Lamont the info I am posting here as I hope it keeps him informed and that he will be able to help others. From BRP they acknowledge that a problem exists with the 2013 models with alignment issues , however as of now they do not have a program to due the alignment and are working on developing one as we speak. The program for the 2012 will not work on the 2013 models. They said hopefully by Thursday they should have one built and will get it out to the dealers. Also they said due to snow outside the factory they were unable to test the new spyders and look further into these issues. Well that's the latest from BRP will keep all informed as to new information as it comes in. As of now wife's new 2013 yellow RTS SE5 has been in shop since we bought it last Tuesday. Thank you all for input and kind words of encouragement. Thank you Lamont.

I guess I wasn't quite clear on what I posted, sorry I edited the post. This is a procedure the dealer can perform to check to see if the alinement is within spec. They should send those numbers to BRP. It is still a work in progress and like I said not all 2013's are effected, you just happen to be one of the unlucky ones.:sour: Hope they get you back on the road soon. Mike.

Nobody said BRP forgot to check alignment. Could have been one assembly bay was off a bit on calibration, or the employee had a bad day. No one is making excuses for BRP in this and neither is BRP asking to be let off the hook.

Do you really think BRP works their butts off putting together a product like the Spyder and then don't care if it works or not? I can guarantee you that BRP is just as concerned about this as anyone.

They messed up, they acknowledged it, they are doing everything they can to make it right. And the good people here at Spyderlover's have been an integral part of the solution.

I'd say, short of perfection, things, though not ideal, are going in the right direction. Soon those that have the problem will have the fix and we can go on to something else.

Until then... there's always the ever present option of ...:bdh:

Funny you noted Toyota here. I have had several Toyota products, as do other family members, and not one of those vehicles has had problems with them, like these Can Am Spyders. A owner/poster here noted, it seems all BRP is worried about is its bottom line. It seems to me that BRP has the same business plan as Microsoft: Put out a defective product and worry about fixes later. What that means is more down time we owners than we get riding time. I'm sure that if BRP had to compensate everyone of us for the time and costs to go back and forth from our homes to the dealers for fixes these design flaws and quality control problems would quickly disappear.

Really, why can't BRP be different than Ford, GM, Chrysler etc.?

I agree its not quality the company seem to be concerned with just sell sell sell and fix fix fix later

The new ones look great. I them changed the week before Christmas at 5700 miles, i had no tread on the inside of one of the tires then. I've got 7500 miles on the RT now.

I had the alignment done and new tires installed. I did contact BRP about before I had it done, I didn't really think they'll respond but they did. Just waiting for a response back. Maybe get some $$$ so I can spend more on my:spyder2:.
