• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Maggie Valley 2013

This was my second time to Maggie Valley. Firstly, except for Thursday's rain, the weather this trip was beautiful. For all you folks who live in the Smokey Mountains, all I can say is you live in a beautiful part of the country. I did not spend much time at the fair grounds as I felt after...

3-Wheel Basic Rider Course (3WBRC) Pros and Cons

I took the state sponsored basic motorcycle (2 wheel) course a few years back after my first Spyder, at the College of Lake County. Outstanding experience. Many of the things you learn can be applied to riding the Spyder, would highly recommend taking a course if not familiar with riding...

    RT extra brake light

Looks like you have installed the Muth Signal Mirrors, was thinking of that doing that mod myself. Just curious how tricky was it to remove the existing mirror/glass?

    2013 Floorboards

I have wondered for a long time why someone hasn't developed a floorboard and pivoting shift lever for the manual shift Spyder(s) like they have on most other bikes. My guess is alot of owners who be all over that type of mod.

The biker's "CODE" of friendly hello's? NOT today!!!!

I live an hour south of Milwaukee, the innner "sactum" of Harleyism. Most Harley riders don't wave or acknowledge me, heck, a lot of Harley riders don't wave or acknolwdge anyone, even other Harley riders. It's just not something I bother thinking about. If someone gives me the low wave I...

    Gas smell is back

Very interesting, came home yesterday from work, had filled up at lunch time, and noticed a strong fuel odor in the garage. 3 years with the RT and I've never experienced that before. Makes me wonder if you're right, over time the cannister has become contaminated. Will see what happens...

Blown Rear Shock @ 13k Miles

My RT is a 2010. Very interesting on the rear Elka. To hear some others here the rear Elka was the cats' pajama's. Thanks for the heads up, would definetly do some research before changing from stock should the rear shock fail again.

Blown Rear Shock @ 13k Miles

After some "mis-communication" on the dealerships part, I was informed that it was the rear shock not the air bag that went bad. If it goes bad again, will defintelty look at going with an Elka.

Blown Rear Shock @ 13k Miles

A little confused here, (which is nothing new for me) the shock and the air bag are 2 seperate components. In my case, the air bag is what blew. How does installing a Elka prevent the air bag from going bad?

Blown Rear Shock @ 13k Miles

    Dealer told me betweeen $250-$300.

Blown Rear Shock @ 13k Miles

Took the RT in to have the brake pedal/linkage update done, only to discover that the rear shock was blown and had to be replaced. Of course it's a year our of warranty so BRP wouldn't cover the repairs. Just curious, has anyone else had the rear (air) shock go at only 13k miles? That seems...

Giving the RT a Good Wash

I know that there are those owners that would never use a convetional car wash port to wash their Spyder, that's absolutely their choice to make. I've owned 2 Spyders and have washed both (continue to wash my RT with pin stripping) at my local car wash. It's all about excersizing some caution...

    Half helmet?

I too ride most of the seaon with a half helmet, would highly recomend you consider a helmet with the sun visor. I've had both types, but really prefer one with the visor for those times when your riding into the sun at dusk or early morning.

    Powder Coated Wheels

If it's not too forward of me, I would be curious to know what the cost was for the front wheels. I have a younger brother who has an older ElectroGlide with aluminum wheels that have really corroded over time. I had suggested he have them powder coated as I thought that might be cheaper than...

Spyder Owners at Chicago Cycle Show

So as not to have to fight the crowds, I went to the cycle show at Rosemont on Friday afternoon (courtesy of BRP). The complimentary tickets stated that there would be a special "event" on Saturday for all registered owners, so I'm curious to know, if any owners were at the show on Saturday and...

I asked this under the "General Disscussion" forum, what the heck is the deal with the gas caps? I've not recieved anything from BRP regarding a recall on the gas cap.:dontknow:
