• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    SPYDER VS. GOLDWING GL1800

Thanks to both of you for your input on the steering of the two machines. It seems that while the Spyder is the better steering of the two it isn't a deal breaker either way. Btw, especially since it's Veterans Day tomorrow, George thank you for your service to our country. Mike Idaho...

    SPYDER VS. GOLDWING GL1800

Steering Comparison Motogordo, now that you have time on both the Spyder and a traditional trike, how would you compare the steering of the two? I have never ridden a traditional trike but have friends who have and they describe the trike steering as very heavy, so much so that doing a quick...

What type of motor oil do you use in your RT?

I use Valvoline 10-40 4T full synthetic motorcycle oil for both my Spyder and other cycles. It is specifically formulated for motorcycles with wet clutches, is manufactured by a company with a very long experience making quality motor vehicle lubricants, and is readily available (Walmart...

    Ride through Yellowstone

I live about 9 miles (in a direct line, not by road) off the south-west corner of the Park so I'm quite familiar with it. The main advice you can receive is to use common sense, keep your distance, and don't approach any animals, as already mentioned earlier in this thread. Don't do anything...

    High Mounted Rear Stop Light

I called Custom Dynamics today and confirmed the flasher will work with the HMT brake light if the strobe is wired into the brake light wiring before the brake light controller and not after. I already have the convertor and with that the light will function as both a running light and flashing...

    High Mounted Rear Stop Light

Flashing Rear Brake Light? Does anyone know of a way to have the Custom Dynamics high brake light function as both a running light and flashing brake light? I tried a Radiantz flasher but it didn't work with the high brake light. Custom Dynamics told me some time back that they did not have a...

    Loading Ramps

No, I don't try to load my Spyder with only two ramps and no, I don't load it into my truck. :o) The third ramp and my tailer are not where I can access them at the moment so the pictures only show two ramps and the truck. The ramp set is a wider center ramp and two narrower side ramps, all...

    Travel cover

I use an inexpensive cover sold by Formosa covers, from either Ebay or Amazon (don't recall which). It's their largest size and easily covers everything except the front wheels, but packs into a fairly small pouch. It only cost something like $30 - 40 dollars and works well as long as it...

took the wife for a ride yesterday!!!!

My wife won't ride with me on our Spyder .......... I'm sure gonna miss her!!!;) No, no, just joking and paraphrasing an old joke that's been applied to many situations. In actuality, she's ridden many miles with me on a variety of two wheeled conveyances and says the Spyder is by far her...

    In Praise of a Dealership

I'm somewhat tardy on doing this but wanted to describe excellent customer service by a Can Am dealer that my wife and I experienced while of a trip. Late last fall we rode our 2010 RT from our home in southern Idaho to the Seattle area. During the leg to Seattle the Spyder increasingly...

    Exhaust pipe crack

My 2010 RT sustained a complete break at the weld. After the new pipe was installed I also thought a clamp on the joint might prevent another break (as mentioned above) and bought a clamp from Summit Racing. I discovered that the two inch clamp was too small (the two bolts would not engage the...

    Deer whistle

Many years ago someone did a study on the effect of deer whistles and published it in one of the motorcycle magazines of the time. They found that the deer were more likely to run onto the highway than away from it in response to a whistle. Of course, they had to use the whistles available...

    Throttle Body update 2011-7

Jim, Thank you very much for this info. I just got the Spyder back from the dealer and he reset the TPS with BUDS. I haven't had a chance to ride it enough to see if the problem persists. If it does I will take the machine back to dealer with your info. Thanks again for sharing your...

Extended Warranties. To purchase or not to purchase ?

Some extended warranty companies subcontract (if that's the correct term) the administration of their policies to companies that specialize in that field, and that's who a policy holder deals with when they have a claim. Does anyone know if either the BEST or Zurich warranties happen to be...

    Dealer's first 12,000 mike service

11,999 Other Mikes!!!!!! I'm astounded to learn there are 11,999 other Mikes using this forum! And I thought I was the only one!!! :D Or almost the only one. Seriously, I have a dealer who is new to the Spyder also, having been a Cam Am dealer for only a few months. They clearly don't know...

    Rear tire wear

The following is quoted from a Tire Rack article titled: Matching Tires on Four-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive Vehicles Address: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=18 "Tire diameter variations can be caused by accidentally using different sized tires, tires with...

    Rear tire wear

Tires made by different manufacturers may (or may not) measure slightly differently in terms of width and/or height despite being the same specified sizes. The differences are small . Thus, no senility involved! :o) Mike

    Throttle Body update 2011-7

Boot Failure on Startup?? Scotty, Thanks for the info on hot startup failure. From your description, and also due to my RT being a 2010 and not a 2011, it appears I have a different startup problem. I attempted a search on this but turned up nothing, possibly because I didn't know the exact...
